Status Update. My Computer died Thursday 12th. Lost all data, I don't back stuff up like I should. Main problem was the loss of Internet access. System is back up now but crippled somewhat. I lost several days time messing around with it. Progress outlook for this week is pretty bleak as well. Its spring break and my 6 year old is out of school. I've got Mr. Mom duty all this week- that means little or no shop time. That said, here's the good news. I got a deal on a mini lathe on Ebay. It will be great for small parts that the big lathe nearly swallows up. It needs minor work but I should have it running in a couple of days. Progress is being made on the CRO rifles. Here is a couple of pics of the mock up levers in place. There will be a bracket where the 'blob' at the front of the lever is. That bracket will contain a spring that returns the lever to the closed position when released. The bracket will require that a 3/4 inch hole be drilled in the stock, and it will be held in position by a bolt that runs through the hole left by the original trigger guard. My goal is to make as little modification to the stock as is possible. After examining the partially assembled prototype I decided it was impossible to make the actuator fit inside of the stock. There simply isn't enough material available to cut a passage for it. The actuator will be outside of the stock, it will be made of solid brass and styled as pleasingly as I can manage. That is what I am working on next. ![]()

Did you lose my kp info in the crash or are we still good? Looking forward to getting it back.

Update. I said earlier that the cocking mechanism would be external. Nevermind that, it was the lack of caffiene talking. I got the mock ups all done and I hated them. Tossed them into the scrapper and started over. The redesign will be internal and much cleaner looking- translation: sexy. This necessitates redesigning the mounting bracket significantly as well. Two questions for each of you. You can PM me if you want or reply here. 1: Should the lever have a spring loaded return? My thoughts are yes. And I had this all worked out but the redesign will necessitate changing my original return spring idea. 2: I was going to incorperate an overtravel stop for the trigger into the mounting bracket. The trigger plate will rest in a slot on top of the mounting bracket. By installing a set screw into the bracket you will be able to tweak the trigger to prevent overtravel. Anyone care? The redesign may also kill this feature. Still trying to get the big lathe back together. Having a tough time replacing the 60+ year old wiring in the drum switch. Would probably help if I wasn't an idiot when it comes to electrical stuff. I had a link to a website with an excellent how to for this but I lost it when the old HDD died a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately my Google-Fu is weak and I haven't been able to find the site again.
