FS 006 Ure o-ring shelf life

So my trusted Freestyle finally broke something.

Now most of you that know me from way back in the heyday of ICD know the story behind this FS.

Well I was up at EMR for Castle last weekend, aired the gun up and set it down. Five minutes later Buck tells me I have a leak, great...

So anyways the 006 ure on the valve pin finally blows out. No biggie, I had my Blazer for backup and plenty of 006 orings back here at home.

Apparently their shelf life is about 5 years because every single one I have in my kits literally snapped in half when I tried to install them.

The moral of the story is it has been almost 5 years since I got this gun and this is the first major thing I have had to replace. So now I am off to the hardware store to see if anyone actually stocks these.

So what is that skull by the asa? Is it something unique or laser engraved on?

Harbinger[TG] 10-01-2009 11:55 AM

A little laser engraving as a reminder for playing WorldCup 2004

And apparently no hardware store in my area sells ure o-rings.

I remember ordering a seal kit from I&I for a nightmare.. at that point the gun was probably at least 10 years old.. well the seals were just junk.. fell apart in my fingers.. multiple pieces. And of course I never bothered to measure them prior to picking them up  The sale was of course an AS-IS.. so I got a bit hosed :(

Hope you can find some good replacements!

Dangit, Harb. Hate to hear that. You might try an industrial supply shop. They ususally have a decent supply of rings.

Yeah dude. If I was back in Miami it would be a non-issue, had a kickass supply place a few blocks away. I haven't found anything here in Jacksonville. It is not dire yet. The next game I have scheduled is in 2 months and I still have my blazer.

Glad you figured it all out! Hope you get a new o-ring soon!

I knew what it was the second you made it leak. That is right, I blame you and you alone for this Buck.
