I sent this to Jake a lil' while ago:

He worked his magic on it and delivered this:

This piece is really important to me: it belonged to my grandfather, a talented pilot and engineer... I do a lot of woodwork, and this is the finest square I have ever used...

Jake is such a sentimental fool, he didn't even charge me for the restoration work, recognizing just how much this means to me...

Luv ya Jake!

The Blazer is in the mail!

Very nice! China can't deliver that kind of quality.

Either an inflatable bunker or a tree, both work for me.

So... if your great, great grandfather has a hammer and passes it down to your great-grandfather who goes to pry a nail and one of the tines breaks off the back, and he replaces the head many years before he passes it to your grandfather, then many years later, after it's been passed down to your grandfather, who gets many years out of it until he breaks the handle. Then your father replaces the handle, and passes it on to you, is it still your great-great-grandfather's hammer?

Of course, you completely wrecked the collectible value of that fine antique!

I guess that means you can skip the Antiques Road Show when they roll in to Canada City.

Nice square, although to be honest I'm more of a speed square kind of guy. The older metal ones, not the new plastic ones.

I've got a similar collection of axes. I have a roofing axe with a full size handle from my Great Grandfather, a rigging axe from my Grandfather, another from my Uncle, and I'm still trying to find the perfect one for me.

Mar wanted to give the old tool a bit of a face lift. I really did nothing more than give it a good cleaning, polish and a fresh coat of what I thought it may have looked like new.

I was really happy changing pace and working on something a bit different than joe shmo's cocker or PGP. Not to mention the story behind Mar's grand pappy. Im ecstatic that he happy with it.
