Got the Sniper

Hey Jake,

Got the sniper, just a few problems. The vert asa was leaking, I took it apart and loctited (blue) the threads to hopefully eliminate the leak.

The second problem... your tolerances are TOO tight. The back block hole for the cocking rod and the bolt are really tight fits. I cant use the second pump rod since it causes the block to ride on the cocking rod. The bolt is "sticky" since it fits so tight so I'll just have to let it work in.

Pump rods are a little short, I'd say about 1/4 inch too short. I had to toss a shim on my cocking rod to allow the rods to stay decently threaded into the handle and the back block.

Small things, and I am definitely happy with the product.

I definatly forgot to loc-tite the ASA my bad.

What do you mean by the the back block rides on the cocking rod? It rides on the rod that connects to the hammer? Thats wierd cuz that block was a pre-made block. Shoot me a pic of her put all together with some close-ups of where shes rubbing. Also I can remake those rods longer for you.

*EDIT* Also let me search around for the other o-ring for the bolt. I used a tank oring as a expidient replacment for the rear ring...that may be why she feels a bit stiff on the stroke.

Hey Jake,

About the back block. I was using it with a CCM cocking rod. Was there a difference between the old pre 99 rods and newer ones? It does rub on the rod as I can hear the metal on metal contact.

Hmm...im not really sure. The only thing I can figure is that that block that you bought may have had the cocking rod hole drilled out of alignment. Can you see where its rubbing? Like on the top, bottom or one of the sides? The centerline distance between the bolt and the cocking rod should'nt have changed between the two styles.

Yeah, I'll have to bug you again in Dec, sniper is sitting in pieces on my desk. I know something is amiss as I threw a CCM bolt and back block on there and its MUCH easier to pump.
