| Unharshed Mellow | What cup seal to replace a Hammer Cup Seal?
What type of cup seal can be used to replace a Hammer Cup Seal? I am assuming it is a nelson cup seal - but I have been out of this market so long that I don't know. I guess what I mean to say is - what is available for order that can be used. (I am asking for a friend). TF |

i was just at the store when a kid with the same problem went in. tech said spyder seal. which is think is pretty much the same as nelson ones depending on the threading for that particular clone, right? |

The cup seal in mine is definitely NOT the same as a standard spyder. The edge that seals against the valve nut tapers a bit.

the hammer seals are rounded and sit down in the valve seat, spyders are flat and sit on top of their valve seat. they are made of the same material. I have put flat nelson style cup seals on Hammers, but you need to polish the very top of the valve seat or they can leak. |

Be careful you have to watch out. Depending on which model hammer it is it can vary. I have one that came with the cup seal linked above, I think it may have been the foreign marketed hammer. Others however just use standard nelson cup seals. If you know what model hammer you have I should be able to check for you.

Here is a pic of the differences between the two, the cup seal on the left is for a Hammer (beveled edge) and the cup seal on the right is a standard Spyder cup seal (non beveled edge)....
