I think its one of thoese things you have to be here for. without the cover the sound will echo loudly with it you hear more of the gun operating (hammer hitting valve) and no echo but not much quieter from the shooters position. I have to assume though that since there is no echo it should be much quieter on the receiving end. I might have to do that tomorrow.

Higher frequencies were muted, this was noticeable in the lack of echo of that higher range. Our ears are most sensitive to mid range frequencies, any silencer would have to work HARD to cut those down to keep them muted. It was easier to hear the drive train in the silenced version.

"Raincovers," dan... "raincovers."

Yeah, there was more emphasis on the sound from the shot itself without raincover, then with it, i heard the internals smacking around way more. The hammer ping, especially - didn't notice that without raincover.

Like you said, tjd, recording away from the mic, like spectator distance (or opponent distance), will be a better test of sound.

Generally its the same situation you find with other non paint related projectile platforms. You begin to hear the mechanism cycling and the hammer drop more. Of course if your a stickler for things like that there are ways to improve that as well.

Well, I learned first hand how well a reg works on a nelson. The 2Liter+ I have knocked the velocity down from 320 to 175. Now I need to find a higher pressure reg. There's a PPS Stab hiding somewhere in this house..

I've been using a pps ca cart reg with a 4 cuin hpa tank with a ninja reg straight out the bba for a while now. I had the ninja reg shimmed up to ~950 output

It's annoying to adjust but once it's set it does great
