I'll keep this post updated as I go along.

Thought I'd do a thread that will eventually show my hammer 7 with a 12 gram in the grip.

Here's the idea:
Slot is cut out to fit the 12 gram in the frame and extra areas are filled in. A brace would be attached to the frame to brace the pierce pin body against (thicker than in my picture)
A microline fitting would be tapped to fit the pierce pin's 1/4-28 thread. Another would be attached to the valve via tapped hole.
Still have to figure out new grip attachment points, I'm thinking a flat panel to attach to the frame, then have standoffs, then new grips attach to the standoffs in their normal location.

Was able to get a bit of work done.

Bored out the bottom of an ASA to 1/8 NPT adapter to allow clearance for the pierce pin. Need to tap the bottom of the fitting for the pierce pin threads, but I'll be doing that to a microline fitting.


I'm able to insert the 12 gram without it bottoming out (this may change when the microline fitting is threaded)

Still need to recieve the microline fittings and figure out how to be able to screw the speedwheel in. I'm thinking that JB welding a nut/standoff would work well.

umm...

i think you should machine a housing for that 12g.

top threaded to the brass part, bottom threaded to the speed wheel. one side drilled out to replace 12g.

I think you should add a couple pins and cast some plastic into the grip.

I would add an aluminum block to the bottom... Attached with the asa screws. The block would have the cap for the 12 gram.

I was thinking about doing something like that. I just need to figure out how much of the grip I can remove/replace with metal so that it'll still be stable.

That's an interesting idea. Is it mostly so the 12 gram wouldn't potentially blow out of the bottom of the frame? I'm thinking some sort of bar would be put in place, would make attaching a nut/threading for the 007 speed wheel easier. I plan on having some aluminium/steel/something side plates attached to the sides of the frame; both for support/attaching the grips, and to prevent potential 12 gram rockets.


I still need to order parts/think about the idea more. It would be easier to use a stock 12 gram changer to avoid some of the safety issues, but would bulk the grip up considerably.

Haven't gotten much more accomplished. Had to go out of town for a few days and haven't had any time to work on this yet.

Was able to get some building time in today. Changed my idea a little, I'm going to use a modified dropout changer to add some rigidity and to make it a bit safer.

quick update.

Tapped the valve for 1/8 NPT fitting, wasn't as centered as I want (off by two mm or so, but for doing it by hand it's not terrible)

However, now I have a leak coming from the powertube/valve seat area :/

So I e-mailed Lou, hopefully new parts fix the problem.

I also started to hack up the trigger frame to fit the 12 gram changer in. Needs to be widened, but should work nicely.
