Re-educate me! Sear stuck?

I was pawn shopping recently and stumbled upon a cheap PMI Piranha. A simple stacked tube blow back. I cocked it and dry fired it in the store and all was well so I bought it.

At home, I cleaned it up and oiled some orings to test it with air. The striker would not go back in while pressing the sear release. I took off the frame and put the striker and bolt back in, then attached the frame. Cocked the marker again and the sear will not release under a full trigger pull. I can push the sear just a bit and it will disengage. I have now polished the top of the sear and the strikers landing and it still will not release.

It's been a few years since I've had any paintball gun so please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks!

Is it electronic? If it is put a Brand New Battery in it and try again use only Duracell or Energizer nothing else. Also check the capacitor if it looks swollen or bulging, if it is you need to replace it before the gun will work.

Mechanical. That's what's stumping me.

From what I can gather, the trigger is hitting the frame before the sear gets released. I can push the sear and the striker releases, but it doesn't take much extra movement or pressure.

Should I keep working on the sear? The frame is super tight against the body.

All I did was clean it!

You got a pic? Is it the original frame on it? Is the striker damaged at all?

im no master, but i would check to see if the sear spring is in, and check your striker spring.

check to make sure the sear latches properly when you apply forward pressure with your finger (remove the fram before trying)

Main spring and sear spring are fine. Sear engages the trigger with finger pressure and moves, but does not move enough. We're talking fractions of a millimeter. I can put full load on the sear with the trigger and it stays put but I can barely tap it from underneath and it releases to fire. Original frame with no sear or striker damage.

I'm about ready to jam something somewhere!

Pictures can happen tonight.

Ok. Got some pics

The first is pressing the sear release without the internals. The lip of the sear still sticks up.

Next is the marker cocked (sear release and safety removed so you can see) trigger relaxed.

Same angle, trigger pulled. You can see where the sear spring attaches has moved forward but is stuck in this position. I can poke the back of the sear and it releases with little force from this point.

What else can I be doing to get this functioning?

Thanks for all the help.

I found a pair of washers that worked. When you first said this, I only thought of big washers. I'm a doofus!
