hammer 7 questions

will the hammer 7 work with a rotor on it? I.e. not double feed.
also is the bolt steel? that being my only issue with my only issue with my empire trracer.
other wise whats the pump stoke like compared to the phantom and the empire trracer?

The bolt is aluminum; but it's hard anodized.

From memory, the pump stroke is very similar between the two. I took Imartin's direction and added a small piece of aluminum duct tape and applied it to the front portion of the top side of the hammer (lubing it well) and the stroke was noticably smoother. I apologize, as both my Hammer and Traccer are in a million pieces so I can't check it now; but I do suggest the little aluminum tape trick for a smoother stroke. It really helped what kinking is present.

Eef! No comment. :s

I don't use mine often enough to poof parts. Someone else will have to comment on that; but I will say that the bolt was a subject that was brought up very early in the Hammer's introduction. Assurance was made and backed by those that have used previous Hammers with the same type of hard anno'd aluminum bolts that are still in service after many years.

As a correction to a comment I made above; the aluminum tape was added to the top side of the "port" on the hammer that extends into the bolt. It took two pieces of the tape to remove the kinking. I tried three; but it sheared and balled up the third piece.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. I'll take some pics when I get home.

Pay no attention to my fancy schmancy file work on the hammer's body. Tapering it back didn't help to prevent the kinking any. Also, that is just one piece of tape on there. Two pieces stacked caused the top piece to peel back. This is nice, since the worry of a layer peeling off is avoided.

You folded the front edge under the lip yes? next time i get my hands on some tape i'll be trying this, though i lost my stock pump spring when i just tried to put it back on...so i'm stuck with the much heavier spring i made for it now. But a lack of kinking will be welcome.

No fold. Looking at it and thinking about it; maybe I should have, but didn't. I have pumped it a buuunch of times when it was like this, and there is hardly wear on the tape itself with no signs of lifting. It makes sense, as the bolt runs straight back; and will be beyond that lip before any kinking would occur when it engages the hammer. I'd have to say, due to the lack of rub on that tape (Dow grease on the tape), that the tape doesn't quite take up all of the space between the hammer and bolt. Lucked out on the thickness I guess. Hopefully the aluminum duct tape I used is pretty consistent in thickness.
