Well I got bored with a Game of Thrones. Got up to page 150 and was just not fond of the world's atmosphere or what little character development there has been. The book felt like a TV drama more than a fleshed-out story.

Onto As I Lay Dying by Faulkner. Only read twenty pages but so far I am feeling it.

Currently about 10% through the Millennium Trilogy. Interesting novel so far, and not my usual style of read.

Finished rereading A Song of Ice and Fire not that long ago. He is an interesting writer, but sadly his idea of a "Plot twist" has become "What you expect to happen actually happened, and you weren't expecting that to actually be possible."

^Millenium trilogy steadily improves as you go, at least in my opinion. I'm about halfway through The Once and Future King, and about 10% into Atlas Shrugged. After reading mostly Tom Clancy for the better part of a year, I figure it's time to do some of the classics.

Just finished up my brother-in-law's latest (he's been working on novels on and off over the last 5 years) as a beta reader for him, kind of a Wild West meets fantasy, almost steampunkish. I think this one might be good enough to get published, will let you guys know if it makes the cut.

Next up, besides writing on my short story for the competition, Kingpin — How One Hacker Took Over the Billion Dollar Cyber Crime Underground and Cherie Priest's Dreadnought.

StealinYerMail - yeah, it's a bit soap oper-ish, but it's damned close to historical fiction, specifically the time around the War of the Roses. If you do your research on that time period, it was pretty much a medieval soap opera. Keep reading, GRRM does a great job and the series is excellent... we just hope he lives long enough to finish it.
