Big fan of the King books with Gotrek and Felix. Still not quite sure what to make of Long's version of them. It seems, wrong for Black Library to hand over someone else's characters to another writer. I do like most of the Long novels I've red. I'll have to go back into my collection to see what I have. Still great pulp stuff.

Horus Heresy stuff is hit-or-miss... I wish they'd keep the stuff in some sort of order and have someone who knows their shiz to proof-read for continuity. The first 3 Lunar Wolves and the Emperor's Children books were great, though.
thats what i like about series you get other person idea or storyline on it. instead of having base line to follow you get bunch story with different style to it. recall this most expect it to be like start of it. they want change it up show case back story's story you might get too see in war. also give you chance to try out other writers. each has there own style of writing. main reason i loved Writers of the Future books gave writes chance to show case there work and give people chance to try them out.

40k man here, never got far into the fantasy side... i liked ben counter's 'soul drinkers' series, anthony reynolds's 'word bearers' series, dan abnett's 'horus rising', and a few others, loving the path of the dark, twisted hero (so yeah, i like dresden too)

same boat, lots of old marine plastic and pewter floating around the homestead, maybe half rogue trader era...

I am big fan of the 40K universe. I am currently reading the primarchs, which is pretty good.

The problem with Long, is not that he is a bad writer, its just he seems to have a rather limited vocabulary, and a habit of re using whole paragraphs. Especially when it comes to fight scenes.

When it comes to Warhammer, id say with all the respect to Abnett and King, C.L. Werner is one of the best. His "Brunner" (Warhammer style Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven) and "Witchhunter" anthologies, are just great.
