I've been thinking about it for a couple of years- I just haven't taken the time. Have you done it before? Friends of mine keep urging me to try, since they have a great time each year.

I tried it two years ago, and got about 7k words into it. November is just a bad month to do it for me - daughter's birthday, Thanksgiving, wife and I's anniversary, busy time of the year at work, etc. I wish they'd do it a different time of the year, but even so, I think I'm going to try it again this year. May cheat and use the 7,000 words I've already got and start from there.

I tried it two years ago as well and although it got me a jumpstart on one novella, that never manifested into a full novel. I would try it again this year, but I'm already 20,000 deep in my second novel (my first was published earlier this year) and I don't want to get off-track. For me, keeping one story-line straight in my brain is hard enough! |

Okay, so I typed exactly, let's see, times three, divide by five, carry the two, um, zero words this year for NaNoWriMo. *shrug* It's been one of those years this month, what can I say? Anyway, I'm hoping at least some of you are scrambling around trying to get those last couple thousand words into the word processor and meet the 50K goal in the next 3 days. After you are done, give it a couple of days, and then go read this article: How to Tell if the First Draft of Your Novel Just Isn’t Worth Salvaging. Enjoy!
