I've been meaning to go back through those myself, as well as the Dragonlance books (mainly the ones by Weis and Hickman, the other authors weren't quite as good). If you're looking for more modern fantasy RPG-based books, check out Dave Gross's Pathfinder novels starring Radovan and Jeggare. They're very good as well.

I remember loving those books in jr. high & high school, particularly Siege of Darkness. Even had an autographed copy of The Legacy, when Salvatore did a book tour through my town. Passage to Dawn was the last one published before I moved on.

My aunt picked up the crystal shard for me at a yard sale when I was younger and can't get enough of these books. Usually hit the book store on the day a new one is released.

Buddy of mine got me into reading these, they are fun. He left me all his collection when he went back down to australia, there are a few missing here and there and I haven't taken time to fill in the holes yet. Found a copy of the first volume of War Of the Spider Queen down under while I was there, and lucked out and found the second volume when I came home.

Good character and background building there, but hot dam no one wins out in those books lol.

just heads up to people looking to read this series of books you will need to read these books first. i wish i knew this first before go to far in series. for some reason i stop reading The Cleric Quintet book 2 after i read all way up to book 11 in series. i did not know that story-line from The Cleric Quintet did not take place after The Dark Elf Trilogy and before Legacy of the Drow series. i was lucky to find out after Sea of Swords you need to read book other three books in series which some people call side story but its not. its book 14 to 16 of series. if you do not read The Cleric Quintet series books you will not know back story of some main players in books to come since goes over priest is monk lover and two dwarf which one becomes druid.

I found pretty much all of Salvatore's books great reads, the Cleric Quintet was a good series as well.
He does a great job of making very likeable characters, even when they're enemies, makes for some emotional tugs.
