chicago locals: directions

So I am getting to Living Legend via Megabus:
(got a ticket for 5 bucks each way )
It drops me off in downtown chicago.

My plan, after getting off the bus, is to take the orange L train to midway in order to pick up a car rental.

So my questions are:
How far is the orange L from grand central station downtown chicago?
Is there and stipulations about taking my luggage on L train?
Are there issues about taking my in my paintguns or air tanks on the L train?
Any other issues?
thanks,
Shane Richter

The "L" is just the mass transit. Like the city bus but a train. Idk where the orange line is.

the l is like a subway, but it's elevated above the streets.

Hopefully this link will work for you... Looks to be about a 10 minute walk from Union Station to the Orange line.
As long as your luggage is sealed (zippered/locked/etc) I see no reason why you'd have an issue bringing it on the train... Thousands of people do it every day to get to and from our airports.
Hope this helps!

This link should work better: Union Station Multiplex to Chicago Midway International Airport - Google Maps

I think you meant Union Station to Midway Airport. Since it'll take 45 mins by train you may want to consider a car rental place closer to Union Station.

That is in the business district and I think all the national car rental places are near the hotels East northeast of there. And within 15-20 min walk from Union Station.

If you rent a car from an airport you usually have to pay airport facility fee and other taxes that you aren't charged when the car rental place is off the airport property.

Check your available discounts or try a travel site like Travelocity.com

thanks for the info guys I tried google back when I bought the tickets but had not gone for a search for rentals. I used your maps and type car rental and it looks as if there is a hertz at the bus station and and enterprise at a Marriot couple blocks north. I just never really thought there wouldn't be any car rentals in downtown.
thanks guys

Welcome to megabus

I bought a trip from Omaha Nebraska to Chicago for 5 bucks each way
I don't think they have a connection yet to denver
As the bus fills up the price goes up
On the first day they have seats they are a 1 or 3 bucks each way
