Exclamation Cyborg RX Gladiator Reg Issue

Hey guys! I shoot a droid and RX, love em both, but the RX is acting up. The gladiator regulator has began to cause the gun to "Choke"... And I know for a fact it's the reg needing a bit of lube, because the lpr and drivetrain are perfect, lpr flush, dwell at 12ms.

If you guys have a macdev right in front of you, the reg's bottom works and top works should unscrew by hand, right? Mine, unfortunately, does not. The threads are super-tight and there is no way to take it off by hand. I'm desperate to get this reg lubed up but I don't know how I'm going to do this. I would HATE to have to buy an aftermarket reg, because this is an Ice Fighter's, want to keep it stock and not all trashy-looking.

So, I called up macdev and the guy on the phone pretty much told me I'm ****ed... No help from him. I have already scratched up the reg but I have to take it apart! The gun shoots a very weird shot, the sound is very strange and sounds like it hisses when it shoots, which the tech dude described as choking. I need this fixed! Please, help, need some way to take this apart!!! No screws or any way to grip it

One more thing... Is it normal for the RX to release air each shot out from the back of the drivetrain...? Thanks guys!

Get a pair of strap wrenches, or one strap wrench and one vice with rubber pads. And I think that air venting from the back is normal - assuming you mean it's coming from the back of the bolt and not from the ram body - but I've never actually owned an RX so I'm not 100% confident on that.

It is normal for the RX to release air out of the back on each site. For the reg, more than likely you need to just clean/relube the reg and flip the reg seat (little red thing inside the reg). As Z3R0 stated, use some strap wrenches to separate the reg.

If you need help with the reg seat, here is a link to the manual. (Page 12 and 13 in the PDF contain the reg info)

i always like to wrap some athletic tape or friction tape around the different parts of the reg - this helps A LOT with the grip, even if using strap wrenches.

Have you swapped regs to see if in fact it is the RX regulator causing the problem?

Do you have a gold bolt or a regular bolt? It could be this as well - I'll explain if necessary. But most important thing to do is to guarantee that the problem is in fact the regulator - easiest way of doing this is slapping the droid reg on your RX - set the reg to 180 PSI (FOR THE RX) and see if it works.

but PLEASE remember to turn the reg down when putting it back on the droid - it can only handle up to 120 psi before you start cracking valves.

I'd love to help - I consider myself an RX "guru" never encountered an RX problem I couldn't fix. Then I sold it (but thats another story)

I thought the same thing too when I first shot an RX, but was told that the air is actually escaping from the opening from the feedneck. It was significantly more air than from an ego.

Definitely try it with two strap wrenches.

Strap wrenches should be part of every players gearbag!
