06 Borg problems

Hello MCB, this is my first real post here. Figured I might as well see what all the fuss about this forum is about

Anyway, I have here an 06 Borg which isn't working properly, and it's new to me, so I haven't even shot it. It's stock besides a push-button on/off, and I think it has some different board than the stock one, or at the very least whatever board that's in there was flashed at the start of 2009.

I'm new to electropneumatic markers so I see this as a possible learning experience (although it's a frustrating one).

What's happening is that when I air the marker up, it simply doesn't cycle. It makes a noise as if it's shooting (this is without paint) but the bolt doesn't move. I figure this is because of the marker's pressure. The gauge on my Gladiator usually reads around 130psi. To get it to go any higher, I need to push in the on/off on the ASA, which causes air to bleed out of the ASA, but the pressure inside of the marker also begins to rise, with the gauge sometimes reading the pressure as above 300psi, but the marker still doesn't cycle (I know it's supposed to be set at 200psi). If the marker does "shoot," it will cause the gauge to drop roughly 25-35psi every shot, and the gauge also shows the pressure declining very slowly even if I'm not pulling the trigger. For what it's worth, I'm using a Crossfire tank, with a red reg of course.

Obviously this isn't good, so I did some basic maintenance -- lubed all the o-rings I could find that should be lubed, made sure the internals of the LPR were aligned, etc... I even took the Gladiator apart and re-lubed it, and made sure all the shims were positioned correctly. The Borg has a fresh battery, and the bolt is in the marker correctly (it's aligned with the ram and all of that).

So I'm not sure what's happening. It almost sounds like there's a leak coming from above the grip frame, but I can't pinpoint where. At this point, I'm wondering if it's the solenoid. Like I said though, this is my first electro so I'm not sure where to start if the leak stems from the solenoid. I pulled the marker apart almost entirely, and the solenoid had some electrical tape on it... I don't quite know what that means yet.

I'm a little lost here, especially since I checked all the soft seals and made sure everything was lubed properly. The bolt is missing two o-rings (the ones furthest from the breach) but I don't see how that would affect anything. To my knowledge, those are the only o-rings that are missing.

Earlier today the gun did cycle properly (the bolt moved and all of that) ONCE, but I'm not sure how I got it to do that.

At this point, I think maybe there's something wrong with the ASA/macro fitting, or maybe the solenoid. Or maybe I'm missing something entirely. But if anyone has any ideas, or maybe there's something I missed, I would love to be enlightened.

Sounds more like a problem with your reg, probably an o-ring or the reg seat. Take out the seat and get some pictures of it if you can. You can also try simply flipping the seat over and seeing if that works. Just be careful that when you screw the adjuster screw inward you stop the instant you feel any resistance whatsoever. If it's still cycling (or trying to), the solenoid is working fine. Make sure there's just a very light coat of grease on the ram and that the holes in the ram housing are free of debris and grease. Also ensure that the LPR adjuster screw is flush with the housing.

You lubed up those tiny orings under the solenoid?

I didn't lube those o-rings. This is my first marker with a solenoid, so I didn't mess with that too much. So far from the advice I've gotten, things are getting better. I had the screw under the Gladiator out quite a bit, and I fixed that, and the "internal" leak is now gone. Now it seems to be leaking down the barrel, but I think I can fix that. Then after fixing that leak, it's just a matter of getting enough pressure into the marker for it to fire. I hope.

If you are getting 200 psi out of your hpr now I would check the dwell setting for your solenoid and your lpr pressure. I believe that on borgs the volicety is adjusted via the lpr not the hpr. A dwell of 8 to 12 milliseconds is pretty standard for most stacked tube poppits like your borg. Hope that helps.
