| I Am The Admin | EMR PPIV - Motorcycle Ride Prep Thread I'm getting ready: My current scenic route: from:New Boston, NH to:42.851806,-72.696533 to:new milford, pa - Google Maps From New Boston, NH to New Milford, PA: About 6 hours via Vermont. If I fight my way on the highways of Mass, I can cut 1/2 hour out of it. So, I'll go with the scenic route and take frequent stops for gas and leg stretching. I'm getting everything organized, and I'll do a mock pack up this weekend, just to see how everything fits. I have two saddle bags, a duffel bag pack that attaches to the saddle bags and goes over the passenger seat. I also have a nice back pack that can be worn just in case there isn't enough room there. Looks like the weather is going to be nice, but HOT. So I can leave out a lot of the extra clothes, which will be nice. I also need to bring my camera equipment, helmet camera, etc. Also, only enough room for one gun obviously. Still debating on which one. Looks like my Sniper will win out though. Easy to break down into small pieces to fit nicely, and to play with at the game. Any suggestions? I've never done anything like this before, but feel that this is a must for me. I'll have my blackberry and can post updates from the road. More to come...

| Good stuff. Remember, that duffle can double as a backrest when it is sitting across your bags Dont forget raingear either.

| On that route, you definately want toilet paper as well. Vermont is a much longer ride through than it looks and most of the places with public restrooms are dumps... ...I know from experience. In addition to my EMR trips we use the same route when we go fishing at Lake Ontario. We just zig when you zag heading to EMR. |

| Bring a camel back or other convenient water carrier. If it is nice, a long ride is thirsty work. I suppose a good luck picture of Drum would help too..

| A few months back, my forehead surrendered a chunk of glass that had been slammed into it when I went over my handlebars and through the windshield of an automobile as a 17-year-old rider. Been carrying that chunk around for twenty-two years. Maybe that would be an appropriate good luck charm. There are two kinds of riders... those who have been down and those who are going down. It is not a matter of "if". Well, "if" they outlawed vehicles with more than three wheels, two-wheelers would have a fighting chance, but we all know what wishes are like. Please! Be careful and remember, everyone in a car or truck is an ******* out to kill you. D/ |
