I really like the grill in terms of comfort. Also have gotten a few bounces on account of the soft cheek rubber. For me the grill has one of the most comfortable ear padding I've ever tried. There's an extra piece of padding that goes behind the ear. It allows the mask to fit snug and doesn't get in the way of your hearing. The only issue for me (and it's a big one) is the lens, too fragile to cleaning. Sorry to go off topic, what are some masks that are know for having lenses that can withstand some abuse?

As for fogging, take off the visor. They fog really easy with the Visor on due to poor circulation.
you should try the I4's

Just my 2cents, certain masks fit/cover certain people depending on the players facial structure.

I was all over the latest EVENTS ZN, and when i got it, it was just sheer disapointment.
Breathing was great, but it was to bulky for my facial structure. And the front just
kept hitting back of my marker that disoriented my aim.

I gave it to my brother in law in San Fran, and he loved it, he had a stubbier face.

My Mask of Choice, JT flex 7 & Grillz

Great Review BTW

nice review. I do wish SOME company would come out with the dual paned lense for these things, I abhore the single paned thing. It fogs with any moisture, so rain play is BAD. I played the second day of WWS at tactical paintball, started with my grill, switched to my events through sheer frustration. I would fog after about 5 minutes of play, because of the temp and drizzle (around 40ish). I switched to my vents, and had no problems with fogging.

the problem with the bottom being TOO flexible is true. It does smack you in the face if you get hit in the lower part of the mask, which was a bit of a supprise the first time it happened to me.

All in all, a cool mask, but untill certain problems are fixed, Ill try to stay with my vents

I had some serious fog issues with the Grill also. And I didn't use the visor, not once. The Proflexes and Flex 8's that I use now don't fog and are also easier to breathe in.

Otherwise it's a nice mask and looks good.

i found with mine that i had major fogging problems. after wearing them for 5 minutes they would be totally fogged up. i consider my self reasonibly fit and i never wore the visor, so this put me of them considerably. that being said i did like the mask for its looks i also found them to be a very safe mask. i did a ''test'' on a old scrap set i had. myself and a group of mates put over 1000 shots onto the mask. after the first 500 the mask was still in good condition with no visable damage. after 1000 shots the nose protection had gone through, however the lense was still in the same condition

I also had fog problems. I owned the same proflex for 5 years(w/lense changes) before I bought the vforce and it never fogged once. imo the single most important quality in a mask is not fogging, you simply cant play paintball if you cant see.

Totally agree. I personally think that fogging is based on how well the mask fits the user's face. If the mask is too close to the face and the user's face sweats a lot there's gonna be a lot of fog.

I didn't find that my Grills fogged up very much at all. Only on rainy, crazy humid days in the forest, but everyone else on the field fogged up too.

Well I'm not going to argue with that, some people are foggers, and some aren't.

Thought I'd add this to the existing reviews rather than starting new for it.

I won a Grill a couple of weeks ago and played with it for the first time this weekend.
Great overall no fogging, but, it pressed on my nose, I have decent sized snozz, but not unusually large, never had this problem with any other mask.

If I'd bought it without trying it I would be pretty annoyed, it was OK for rec play, but I imagine it will become a problem for hours at a time in a scenario.

I'm going to stick with it for now, see if I can remold the front a bit.

I'll tack on a lamprey-like-review as well.

Had a Grill a few years ago, shortly after they came out. Was my fave mask for a while, very comfortable and fit over glasses well (when i wore glasses on the field) but i did notice a little fogging, just in the edges of my left/right peripheral. Games i played at the time were maybe 20 min at most, and out here in NorCal, the weather is usually moderate, so not much to contribute to fogging aside from my own moistness. The fogging didn't bug me so much as the lenses, which formed that weird flaking pattern after a few months.

My buddy uses a Grill primarily, and has for years. He loves it, despite the lens issues. He's only had it fog up real bad during a couple particularly cold tourneys, one of which was during some light but steady rain.

Something i've noticed on both his and my Grill, and Profilers, is the venting around the mouth area seems weak. Both on a pair of my old Profilers and his current Grill, a face shot resulted in a piece of the venting breaking.
