If you want details, read on. ___________________________ I own a DD68 Redux which requires Freak inserts. In fact, the Freak insert is most of the barrel length, save about 1-inch at the tip, 2-inches if you have the extended barrel. Last night, I played a number of indoor games with the Redux and was using Diablo Formula 13 paint which tended to roll out of a 0.682 Stainless Steel Freak insert. Paint was yellow fill, bright metallic yellow/pink two-tone shell which flew like tracers. I put Tymcneer's 0.675 brass insert in the gun and re-chrono'd: 298fps. I'd previously chronoed ~275fps with a 0.682 insert. I unscrewed the TPC to its forward limit to get the speed under 270fps. That's the biggest change I've ever had to make to set velocity. I had no barrel breaks with the insert, great efficiency and consistency. HIGHLY recommended. ___________________________ Even if you have the full, Smart Parts Stainless Steel insert kit, it only goes down to 0.682. To get to 0.679, you have to buy a Smart Parts aluminum insert which is far less durable and made to sloppier tolerances than stainless steel or brass. I want one of Ty's 0.680's now to replace my aluminum 0.679. People spend a fortune on barrels that become junk when paint sizes change. Why not invest in inserts instead?

Do you have any efficiency increase #s? Also were you using your drilled out TPC?

I ordered one of each as well, they showed up fast and well-packed. They're extremely well made, and the IDs are as described (unlike some other company's inserts...). Had a little problem where the ODs are slightly too tight in my DW barrel, but tymcneer has been great about making it right and I have every confidence that these are the perfect product if you're looking to get some tighter bores on your Freak with brass-y goodness.

Something I forgot to mention: packaging. When my insert arrived, it was packed extremely well, inside a mailing tube surrounded by thick bubble wrap. Clearly the package had been abused by the post office but the contents were perfectly protected. Quote:
Can't provide hard numbers yet... will post updates as I go. EDIT - it's not the TPC that causes shreaded paint. It's siphoned liquid from the in-grip gas inlet on the Redux. More details about this in another thread: Redux Valve insert - success The insert works fine with an open-face TPC! Last edited by CJOttawa; 01-17-2011 at 11:33 AM. | |

| . | Also something interesting to note...the Carter bolts have 4 smaller holes, like a venturi face, interesting that that design doesn't break paint?
