I Hate Best Buy

I will start this by mentioning that I had my first job at best buy from 98-01. I understand retail and I understand that there is an equal mix of ****bag employees and customers.

I received a sony earpiece walkman mp3 player for my birthday ordered by my sister trhough BESTBUY.COM. today I went to return it for store credit becuae it does not stay in my ears. Thrre were 2 people in line. I waited a solid ten minutes before the street-trash bitvh cashier could assist me. I tell her I want to return this for store credit and hand her a best buy gift receipt.

She proceeds to stare at it, scan it, type some crap, scan it, look at it, type some more......finally she prints a receipt and staples it to the gift receipt saying ok its been credited to the credit card. I tell her I wanted store credit and she says I said to return it. I explain the first thing I said was I want to return it for store credit. She says she can't void the return and I do the typical get your manager after explaining how im in the shortest line with the longest wait.

Of course I get a customer service supervisor who tells me the only thing I can do is get store credit by calling the corpoate number.

WHY WOULD I WANT TO DEAL WITH THE HEADACHE OF CALLING A CORPORATE NUMBER AND OTHER HOOPS TO JUMP THROUGH? Seriously, best buy has horrible prices. I don't shop there anymore and my only reason for being there was because I didn't choose this gift.

My sister can keep the money and use it towards buying stock in companies that directly compete with best buy.

I live in woodbridge, va. It is filled with losers, cra@heads, thugs,, and other pieces of **** that do nothing. Thank you best buy for completely dicking this experience up. I hope the company implodes and all of the employees end up homeless. ****ers.

Sounds like she wasn't paying attention to you and didn't want to solve the problem, call her a Cunvt and walk away.

I have to agree. I shopped at BB for the first time in forever this week...got a printer/scanner/fax unit. I SOOO enjoy being scowled at upon entry AND exit from the store.

Is it part of the training program for that store that customers need to be made to feel like they've already stolen something before they even walk in??

I didn't think the return could be done with out the card.
Yes BB sucks. I worked for them for a couple of years around 00-02. Ended up leaving after getting yelled at for following company policy to page for help when the lines back up.
Had a manager come on board and swore up and down that there would be no bs to be #1 in the district yet when we were right behind another store on the last day of the period he told everyone "don't allow any returns on accessories" so much for not doing anything shady and under handed.
Of course my favorite was when I was returning an item and I knew that I would have to receive a check from corporate. No problem I knew the policy. Then the dumb a** tells me that they can not send a check to a PO Box. She could not understand that there are a crap load of folks who only have a PO Box. Took almost an hour to process the return to have a check sent to my PO box.

I remember the whole check from corporate nonsense. Customers would come in and tell us it took 3 months to get their money back because they paid with a check.

While that policy has been disbanded, they remain overpriced. The cheapest 3.5mm male to male (headphone connector on both sides) is 12.99 in store.

I can go on ebay and get one for a dollar. While the internet has taken a sad toll on local small businesses, I'm really happy when Best Buy is a victim of competition. It'll crumble just like Circuit City one day.

I bought a copy of The Office Season 1 on line for store pick up. When I went to get it, the girl was stupid rude behind the counter. I chocked it up to her being young and just an idiot and went about my business.

A few weeks went by and I went to pick something else up (Cheap blu ray movies I think) and the cashier was super nice. So, I went online and left a comment about how awesome my cashier was. When I got to a part of the survey that asked if I had ever had a bad experience, I told them about the cvnt I dealt with that one day. Within 15 min the store manager called me asking me about it. I explained the situation and he said he knew who it was and it would be handled. He also said to ask for him next time I was in the store and he would make sure I was taken care of. I wasn't expecting anything like that, but it definitely Upgraded Best Buy's bar in my opinion.
