McCann USA Double-07 Shoulder Rig

Ok, so I have always loved the Doc Nickel capless chest harness, and hated it at the same time. After a few years I got my hands on one that wasn't totally outrageous in price. I immediately started to think of what I wanted to change on it, and subsequently started to price out how much it would cost to make. The only problem was time. Of which I had very little.

Step in McCann USA.

I started to see Matt's (pbmafia) posts about his custom gear. So I decided to shoot him a PM and see what he could do to help me in making my dream a reality. I sent him my Doc's harness, and after a few PM's we had the details worked out and I sent the payment his way.

...and this is what he created...

To start I will show both harnesses for reference.

Doc Nickel capless Chest harness

Tube holders on the Doc's

Enter the McCann USA Double-07 Shoulder Rig. Notice the section underneath the 12 gram holders on the shoulder strap. That's right there is elastic there. Let me tell you it really helps keep the harness from shifting.

Tube holders

Back of the harnesses. The Doc's is all elastic around the back with 1" nylon webbing sewn in to go up and connect to the shoulder strap adjustment. Matt did a better job than I ever could have dreamed! It allows you to to side the X around to where you want it on your back. This way also helps keep the harness from shifting from side to side.

Now on to the backside. I asked Matt to give it some padding which the Doc's was lacking. I didn't like the fact that the Doc's was very floppy. If you have ever used a PBMafia product you know that they break in very nicely!

This picture shows the front fasteners. Matt chose to go with a standard buckle and the Doc's used seat belt material with velcro sewn to it.

Me wearing the Double-07 Shoulder Rig

Me wearing the Doc Nickel harness. Wearing my MCB shirt of course.

The icing on the cake is that it is a PERFECT match to my DBD mulitcam pants!

I asked Matt to clean up the adjustment straps on the harness. I suggested something like what Camelbak does, and he made elastic loops that are sewn around the straps so the excess can be tucked underneath it thus eliminating loose ends flopping around.

This harness came out better than I ever could have imagined. I want one in black now, and for $45 it is a steal! Considering people sell the Doc Nickel for $60 used. The quality is normal for Matt's work. OUT-FREAKING-STANDING!!!

If you are not happy with waste style harness, old style shoulder strap harness, or vests with Molle attachments...Seriously consider this harness, and remember Matt can and will make changes if you ask!

Thank you Matt! You have a customer for life now!

PS: All picture were taken with my phone with in 10 minutes of me opening the box.

That looks like a rig I would really like, I am using ronin suspenders right not.

How is it for when you crouch down and hunch over?
I like the new elastic on the front connection but to it seems like doc's old elastic around the back would be better for this.

The elastic around the back bothered me because as elastic gets older it dries out and/or stretches. Especially with the way Doc sewed the shoulder attachment to the elastic. It was just at the top of the elastic thus pulling it up in the center and making a shallow W along the back.

When I hunch or crouch the weight of the tubes will have it hang down and away from the body but my Doc Nickel did the same. If you look at the pics in Matt's dealer thread you can see that his design actually allows for better movement. It resembles a real shoulder harness for a pistol.

As with any harness it's all personal preference.
