I havnt seen it yet but me and my wife are going this weekend. I heard a clip with Optimus Primes voice in it and it gave me chills! I am so glad this thing isnt a flop, I purposly skipped over this whole thread so it wouldnt ruin my perspective. I'm 34 and im "giddy" about this silly movie.

Actually, it's probably more of a product placement thing. Think about it: except for Optimus Prime, they were all GM vehicles - Camaro, Hummer, Solstice and whatever Ironside was (a Blazer?). That said, I don't think it detracted from the movie at all. I'd easily see that movie a few more times before picking it up on DVD.

I would've liked to have seen more of the old Decepticons (only Megatron and Jetscream were original).

Yeah... having the same voice actor for Optimus as the cartoons really made it neat. A good link between the versions. I like how he did the narration at the beginning and end too.

Yeah, Peter Cullen was a must have addition. You could tell he has aged twenty years, but it was still there....."flash"....eight years old all over again.

Too bad Welker wasn't picked for megatron. Supposedly his voice was too far gone. Weaving did a great job. I'm not as much of a gamer nowdays, but Welker is going to be Megatron in the game. I would be interested in hearing that to see how good the voice still is....

Military product placement....yeah, i'm sure Bay had to do it to get them to sign on as they did. Being a militarty contractor, i was a little disappointed with the inaccuracies in some of the military stuff.....afterburning jet powered predator?, the spectre c-130 gunship was cool, but not realistic.

The commercial plugs for all the GM autobots sans Optimus was a little irritating. Bumblebee was not an issue, i liked the retro camaro story, just when the others show up, it's like they landed in Detroit right on GM property.

I agree a longer sequence with Optimus/Megatron would have been nice, and i like the CGI, but I wish Bay would slow things down sometimes....

I'm not the biggest Bay fan, but with dreamworks and Speilberg, they pulled this one back up into the "good" category.

The added humor with Sam's character development was great and Shia does a great job. Megan Fox is great eye candy as well.

Finally, the all spark bit was a tad lame, I always liked the "autobot matrix of leadership", but the allspark did drive the story at least.

Also, what happened to energon? Also, what was up with the mode of transportation. No spacecraft that can actually land?

Those gripes aside, this was a great movie, and being a G1 transformers nerd, I can't wait for a sequel and more "robot" character development. Lets loose all the humans....

2009: Transformers 2! Bay is in talks to direct again.

I just got home from watching it a second time, and loved it every bit as much as the first time. From this second viewing, I didn't like what they did to Megatron in this movie. He looked nothing like he did in the cartoon series (unlike Optimus Prime), and I still can't figure out what the heck it is he transforms into. It looks like a weird X-wing fighter from hell...not the cool gun he used to be. His voice kinda sucked, too, but then again, you'd NEVER guess him to be Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith from "The Matrix" trilogy and V from "V for Vendetta").

I also noticed that the Autobots were all plugs for GM, but if you look back at Bay's other films, he ALWAYS goes for "the coolest" vehicles out there (of which he put them in this film in the form of Barricade as the Mustang Cop Car, as well as the Hummer, Solstice, '09 Camaro, new GMC Semi-Pickup, etc.). Bay LOVES Hummer H2's, since he's used them in several movies before. Heck, they were probably in Pearl Harbor for all we know. In addition, did you notice how cool the military vehicles were? This is the first movie I've ever seen the Bell V-22 Osprey in.

As for Bumblebee, Jazz, etc: they were updated from their original forms (VW Bug for Bumblebee and Porsche for Jazz) into something more modern, trendy, and cool. Who'd take Bumblebee seriously if he transformed into a wimpy VW Bug? No horsepower, small size, etc. It was hard to take him seriously as the crappy old Camaro, hence the update (which made for a cute story addition).

Great movie. Period.

Man you hit that one on the head. It WAS fast action. I'm going to have to just watch the action scenes when the DVD comes out in slo-mo to catch everything.

Megatron's jet form actually impressed me. I'd have to see it again, but didn't it look like a jet made out of bones?
And as for his voice, it could always be worse: Gilbert Gottfried (sp?).

And there was a nod to thie "big gun" form for Megatron when he would clap his arms together to make the anime-style mega-cannon.

All in all, no complaints.
