| Lost the Daylight | Pluck A Duck
Or the complete guts of a Carter Desert Duck. Prompted by Freedom a week or so ago. I've been meaning to do this for a while, but I'm lazy about pictures, and goodness knows I should do something actually constructive on the MCB community once in a while. ![]() Firstly, the slide part comes off when you lift that little lever and pull it out- connects right inside, since the decoratively milled outside of the duck is essentially just a really pretty and expensive pump handle. There is a return spring that I forgot to take out of the sliding part which goes around the barrel, nothing really special looking, just a large spring. ![]() Next the grip frame and the rail remove very easily through three screws. two in front of the trigger guard, one that goes down through the rest of the body- not unlike the design on a nelspot ![]() Just a close up of the rail separating from the grip frame itself, and how it sits on the body. As you can see one more screw attaches the rail to the body separately from the grip frame. ![]() The grip and slider trigger assembly without grip panels. ![]() Slider trigger from the inside- adjustable as to how far you have the screw sticking out of the trigger itself. ![]() Close up- you can see the hole where the 12g seal passes through into the grip frame. ![]() Trigger itself, note the screws being the point of adjustment. The front screw can be left out further to shorten the trigger pull on the slider. ![]() Not much to it really! ![]() How it goes together: ![]() Regular nelson guts as found inside the body displayed. ![]() Easy as pie, my friends! Click here to see a little cheesie video I made a while back of how to do a basic tear down. Note the similarities between the 007 and obviously the Super Stock (Box Gun). As for shooting, I know I get at least 30+ shots per 12g. I wasn't paying exact attention when using it since I was having such a good time. I did have a few issues with smaller paint and double feeding or roll outs, but nothing too major. I really like the feel of the duck, since it does have a bit of weight to it. I like the solid feel, and it is easy for me to get used to the entire top being the pump- some people think the idea of the feed moving when you pump is strange. If anyone is considering a duck as a paintball gun, keep in mind you are basically paying for a lot of pretty milling and collector's value. It's not the most up to date, the barrel is fixed, and a larger bore to deal with. True, it is VERY solid. It is VERY pretty, and the chances of running into another person at the field with a duck are slim to none generally speaking. However, if you are afraid that it will break, or get stolen or something, you are just paying a lot of cash for a pretty wall hanger. I'll be using mine until something irreplaceable breaks in it. Having something pretty and useful is worth it to me!Sometime I'd love to get a Redux and see how it compares to the duck itself. The Duckslide is interesting enough for a comparison. If this seems a little rough, it's about 1:30 at night and I'm multi tasking. Again, thank Freedom for getting me to post this, and Chaos for posting his Box Gun thread which got me off my butt to do this sooner rather than later. One last Random Factoid- this is an MCB exclusive. I don't really bother to post anything of great interest on other paintball forums, just for you guys.
