I think it can handle it's own reg's output. They designed it to be idiot proof so the reg probably won't go any higher than 190 psi. That doesn't mean that idiots thinking that they can get a few extra FPS out of a 30 dollar pure energy grip reg won't do so and blow up the guts of their gun.

While I don't condone possibly unsafe behavior, it doesn't make it OK to lie.

ASTM 1776 part 7 testing consists of firing a paintball at 400 +/- 20 FPS at a lens.

4.2.2 states that any visible fracture is a test failure.

You might want to read up on the standard before referring to it.

The reg will vent before it produces enough pressure to blow the hoses off. I'm not sure exactly what that pressure is but that's why they added the relief valve feature to the regs in the new gen guns to keep from damaging the hoses and solenoid.

So, whereabouts does velocity top out in the stock config? Obviously paint will affect this, but anyone know a ballpark ?

I honestly have no idea as I've never had any reason to try and top it out. Would probably vary wildly depending on paint and barrel match, possibly even temp or atmospheric conditions.

I can't say where the ceiling is on the Enmey, but if it's anything like the Ion, the velocity peak is under 300 fps. Beyond that, and the pressure popped off hoses, or if they did not, the 'noid wouldn't retain the pressure and it'd be a massive unceasing leak out the barrel, or the 'noid would just die. I could never chrono any of my Ions past 290-ish.

I think shredxcam is correct, i think the new regs will vent in excess of 200 psi to prevent internal damage.

all my ions shoot 295 +/- 5 on a given day.....

heck even my double barrel mech ion shot 310 when i was trying to dial it in
(2 bodies, 1 reg)

my personal tourny ion (hyper2 reg, virtue oled, l7, qev, etc) shot 370 when i first put the new hyper2 on....
i also dont use the stock reg on all my ions (only about half)

I have completely forgotten what the Max Flo R on the vibe was like. The Max Flo inline relieves just above the set pressure, so you can crank it up and down all you want. I thought the Max Flo R had a similar arrangement, but it has to be at least a little different because of the porting. Bother.
