GXG 50 rnd Pod pack

As a novice pump player, a pod pack was last on my list of goodies to grab. After lugging a 140 rnd pod around with me to the fields and leaving it at the start point for a few days, I saw a local player rocking 50 rnds pods and a PB mafia pack. I instantly recognized this as a better way to feed my pump, but when I got home and onto the net, the near 50 dollar price of the five fifty turned me off. 50 dollars could by me a case of RPI Premium, a few up grades for my gun, or a new pair of shoes, I did not want to spend that on a pod pack, regardless of the quality.
But then, on a random order from ANS gear, I found this.

The GXG 50 rnd pod pack. With a price 14.95, it was a risk worth taking. There was very little about this pack on the internet, and with this review I aim to change that.

Fit:

The pack has four straps that wrap around the waist. I wear a 31 waist in pants and had no problem tightening it down to fit my frame. The bottom two straps are made of tough, but cheap feeling, fabric. The top two are elastic and stretch around you to lock down the pack. All in all I have never been worried about this pack falling off. The velcro is great and very strong.

The Inner straps

The outer straps

All fastened up

Build quality:

The stitching is tough, but looks cheap. It's great for 15 bucks, would be bad if you were paying 40. I play rough and have yet to have any major failures. the pack is very, very, very light. The pods will not fall out and fit snug even without the strap. There seems to be unnecessary velcro on the outside, no biggy.

Extra velcro

Price/Value
For less than 20 bucks you can have a pump pod pack and five GXG fifty rnd pods. Need I say more?
All in all it's a great pack. The only downside is the lack of swab holders. Here are some general pictures outlining the fit and accessibility of the pods. I recomend this pack to any pumper on a budget.

Thanks to my brother for modeling the pack.
Please excuse any spelling errors, I am dyslexic

Pods are not included per ANS and Paintballgateway websites.

It did not come with pods but the pack and five fifty rnd pods can be had for 20 bucks. I bought them together.

In other words: $15 for pack, $1 each for pods.

Nice review, and decent-looking pack. Is there any kind of padding or grippy stuff along the inner back wall, the part that touches your back?

off-topic: You or whoever is modelling the pack needs to eat a burger or something, cuz that skinny dude is about to fall through the cracks in the brick patio!

No grippy silicon or similar on the inside of the pack, but it is extremely secure.

That's my brother, he is 6'2" and thin as a stick. He's a basketball player so that build actually works for him. He eats what can only be described a metric butt tonne of food. Where it all goes, nobody knows. I'm also pretty thin. Hoping my next season of swim team will change that.

Wow, and I though I was thin. Yeah you could get it to fit well but you would have to fold the inside strap back on its self or cut it. It's no big deal really. I say go for it, worse comes to worse you've spent fifteen bucks plus shipping.

As for the Empire Fast pack. They are a steal for 30 bucks. I was just looking for something pump specific. My basic logic is function over form, and besides the lack of a swab pocket, there seems to be nothing about this pack that does not function perfectly. I'll have a swab holder sewn on asap, and then it will be perfect for my needs as a rec pump player. Remember, this pack is about HALF the cost of the Empire Fast pack and about a THIRD of the PB Mafia's price and it preforms the same task (carrying pods).

Both my fast packs were 20$

The look cleaner. And can be used with long and short pods

And don't have wings out the side

The last pod looks like it sticks way out on each side
