I have done alot of testing with these exact grenades and have found that they can be reliable if they are shipped and stored properly.

A big problem was that the first batch we recieved was frozen in shipping. There was paint in the bottom of the box and some of the grenades had actually cracked open. The big problem was that the delay was now erratic, anywhere from 5 - 20 seconds or more to go off.. not very impressive.

The next batch we had shipped on a heated truck and these tested much better. Out of 10 grenades 9 went off in 5 seconds and they let off a good size bang and paint spray was about 5 feet on average.

It sounds like maybe the sample that you recieved was frozen in shipment, the paint expands cracks the casing and leaks out.. Therefore when it does go off there is not as much paint to spray out.. also this effects the delay time, in the cold they don't go off as fast as they should.

Overall they are a decent product that could use some tweaking to get perfected. They also need some decent packaging and documentation since they don't give you any direction at all.

Well that explains it. I just wrote my views and concerns about the product. If it wasn't for the frags that it left on the field I would have rated it better.

I have to agree, it's one thing for a product to not work as well as you would like. It a whole diffrent story when it's potentially unsafe. I really wanted to start stocking them at my field. I didn't expect near as much coverage as a bladder filled grenade but I figured the coolness factor would make up for it. I used to carry a m-69 and a squad buster into all games. The m-69 was great for getting through brush and trees. The squad buster when I needed to clear out 6 kids from a tower. I always liked the M-69a2(wasn't that the name of the trip wire one) I could just never find a good time or opportunity for it. I did use it once in a capture the flag game. I tied it to our flag. Poor flag carrier wasn't pleased

I am going to be honest here. I like many others make their own grenade. However I still stand by my statement of "loose frags" on the field. This is a good concept, but they need to improve this.
