JT Proteus

Collateral advantage of trying to find a new mask: Getting to try out tons of different masks. Next in line: JT Proteus

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fU846DmHnY

Pros:
JT Spectra Lens
Reasonable breathable
Good ear coverage
Unique look

Cons:
Too tight around the chin/mouth
Poor chin/front jawline coverage
Lens change
All one piece, so less interchangeability
Not made anymore

Other stuff, not sure if good or bad:
Unique ears

The JT Proteus is an interesting mask. It has a semi-flexible bottom, is all one piece, uses the Spectra lens, is short-ish but offers great ear protection, and has some very unique ears. It's too tight against my face to be comfortable for me, but I can imagine that someone with a smaller face might like it.

they have a proprietary strap, if you can find them they might better complement the sound improvement, however well that works.

the ear pieces also have an intercom replacement which are pretty cool, you can plug in your walkie talkie.

i've been hit in the rubber bottom and felt a sting in my lower lip, but the rest of the mask is niiice.

I thought I was the only one! The fit, ventilation, and sound capabilities on them is so far beyond the proflex and flex 8 that it blows me away.

I love mine- I just like the Flex 8 better only for it's ability to have my camo attached all over it (tiny black zip ties through grill slots all over).

Actually, the Flex series (ie. Flex 7) were before the Proteus. Otherwise, great video. I used to have a black Proteus. I liked it but I got rid of it years ago. I just hated changing those Spectra lenses.

Oh yes the proteus is by far my favorite mask. I have worn the same one since 2003. It's pretty hammered now and has gone through probably 12 lense changes... The built in sports com is always a good conversation starter lol.

It is what I still wear now as my main. It's funny because so many people around here have never seen one before.
