Virtue VIO Review! (with slight update)

I had a cold, so I couldn't get this done as soon as I wanted, but here's my review of the Virtue VIO.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKZoa4MOmd8

And here's the coverage:

See how it compares to other masks here.

Pros:
-Quick change, thermal lens.
-Breathability. Not Proflex/E-Flex, but comparable to i4 or Events.
-Coverage. I was very pleasantly surprised by the coverage. A bit short on the chin, but better than average jawline protection, and good ears.
-Options. Tons of colors for almost every part makes for thousands of combinations.
EDIT: Did some math based on the options available here. Based on lenses, frame, and bottom options, you have 3,240 different unique color combinations available. With ear clips separate and with the same options as the frame, it goes up to 38,880. Add to that the straps and you have 1.36 million combinations.
-Quick disassembly. Replace parts really fast.
-Contoured foam around the nose. A unique feature that shows a bit of thought.
-Acoustics. Projection seems good, and hearing is clear.
-Microfiber LENS bag. Mask bags are pretty much expected, but this actually has a second, small bag for lenses.

Cons:
-Stiff out of the box. With a little work, breakdown and lens change will get easier, but it's initially pretty tough.
-Less breathable than it could be. Given the number of vents, I was expecting better, but they're small than they look at first glance.
-No visor. Forehead protection!

Meh:
-Flexibility. Some people like flexible masks, some don't. This is a nice middle ground between rigid and "proflex/E-Flex". Nose is pretty solid, sides have some give.
-Very tight fit, comparable to i4, Axis Pro, or JT Proteus. People with larger heads or who prefer a little bit of a roomier mask should probably look elsewhere.

Price: $125 for the base models (solid colors, or basic combinations), $135+ for more colors/options.

My take: I was really pleasantly surprised. I was expecting better breathability and less coverage. As they are, the downsides are very few, and pretty minor. I like a bit more chin coverage, so I won't be switching from my flex 8 home-brews, but this is an excellent mask that's clearly the product of a lot of thought. It's pricey, but has a lot of good going for it.

So I'm guessing it's a "no" for people who want a mask they can use with their glasses? Great review. I'll watch the vid when I get a chance.

Look at his picture, as you can see, not good nose protection, looks like a straight shot of paint and shell. I purchased these for my son, when we noticed it, he decided to return them (deal breaker for me too). He will get some I4s or wait for the HK mask.

Yeah, those front nose vents are unusual. Too high to help with breathability, but definitely expose your nose to more paint than usual.

i think it was put there to allow the air to escape before going into the lens to help with fogging. if you are getting shot there a lot maybe you need to look at your mechanics

Virtue VIO Review! (with slight update)

Taken several hits square to the nose while wearing mine. It's really no worse than any other mask.
