P&D Mini Claymore Mines Review

While the mines are my property and I have the right to do whatever I want with them including photographing every part and posting it in the internet, I will be respectful to P&D and refrain from doing this publicly. The mines are reasonably priced...well most places... you can find them on Ebay for $9.99 + shipping (egads) but a lot of paintball stores are selling them for $5.99. You get 2 in the package.

The first thing I noticed when I got the package was the size and weight. They're pretty small and light. Only about 7" long and about a 1.5" tube. The weight concerned me as I know what a grenade this size would weigh. Indeed, with a closer look they really don't have much paint in them. About 1-2oz of a yellow fill.

Overall these are easy to setup. The washer / bolt go into the hole and work as a plunger. This releases the paint and causes it to spray out of the piece of tubing sticking out of the mine. Ideally you bury them and leave only the tubing and washer showing.. then cover that up.

Since many sites list them as "one time use" I had to see what was happening inside. I can tell you this, this is a reusable mine. It's design is simple and after firing the tubing stays intact. All you need is a little paint and a syringe and you can indeed refill it. The cardboard tube is fairly sturdy but would probably be the first thing to wear out on this.

Honestly, this is a solid product, especially for the price I paid. If you want an inexpensive "throw away" mine (that can be refilled) get some. While there isn't a ton of fill, it's plenty enough to mark someone. If you add up the parts and the time, it's probably more cost effective just to buy them as well.

Overall I think P&D came out with a solid product at a reasonable price. They also have begun dabbling in a market that no one else is playing in... eg.. cheap, disposable paint mines.

Someone used one of these at my home field and it seemed to be a dud. The paint merely dribbled out the end when we finally got it to go off.

russc was it real cold out at the time the mine was used?
