Thumbs up CCM Lower Tube Kit Review

My 05 WGP Superstock sniper had problems with hammer bounce. I have a couple of spring kits, Maddman and Nelson, but the thought of spending time, air, and paint at the chrono in the hot sun trying different spring and and reg settings was not appealing to me at all. After checking out Demonio's SS-25 at his house one night, I decided to skip all the headaches and pick up the CCM kit.

The kit came with no instructions, but this was not the first time I removed and installed valves. The only thing I was unsure of was which way the the valve alignment nut faced the valve, because it was machined differently on each side. One side looked like it was machined to help a valve tool slip into the socket, so I had that face away from the valve.

The feel of the valve kit in the Superstock was just like how Demonio's SS-25 felt: Solid hammer strike, no bounce. Pump stroke was significantly lighter and smoother. Velocity adjustment is also much more convenient. No more unscrewing of the cocking rod. The hammer also contains an o-ring where the cocking rod screws in, which helps to keep it from backing out during play.

On the field, with reg set at 300 psi, I achieved 280 fps with the IVG approximately 3 turns in.

Below are pictures comparing the 05 Superstock stock internals to the CCM:

It would be nice to see velocity comparison between valves running the same input pressure with the same springs.

Yes it would, but I'm not gonna do it.

The best I can give you is that with the stock internals at the same pressure of 300 psi, the IVG was only a turn or two from flush to chrono at 280 fps.

The CCM IVG is the best one made!

Have you seen any improvement in consistency?

I really couldn't tell you, because I was chrono'ing with several months old WPN Elixir paint that was sitting around opened for a few weeks. I just made sure I didn't spike above 280. If I recall correctly, I was going from 260 to 280, which is typical of my experience when that paint gets that old. (I've shot mostly WPN paint for the last two years.)

When I ran out of the old stuff that day and went to newer unopened Evil, I did not chrono again, but it was noticably more accurate and I was able to make some sweet one shot kills.

I never really had consistency issues with the stock WGP internals. The only issue I had was the hammer bounce, which is the main reason I bought the CCM kit. Secondary reason was for the lighter pump stroke. The CCM is lighter with the IVG turned in about three times than the WGP with the IVG turned all the way out.

I went to their site and couldn't find it. Where did you pick up your CCM kit?

I picked it up on eBay from jedislayer420. Another eBayer, hugepaintball, sold some too at close to the same price. CCM had some on eBay, but I saw a post a few days ago that they are in the process of restocking.

Good review.

Here is an odd one for you. The stock valve runs well at 325 PSI or so. The CCM runs properly at 300 PSI. I would say that the stock valve is slightly more efficient - but I have nothing to back that up.

Hmmmm - I may need to test that.
