Im sure you have all heard all about it, but i decided to do a quick review of my expirience with it. for those that havnt read/heard about it, its Protos first entry into the "low end" market. I myself dont consider it low end at all. Heres what i found: Price- At a base price of 200USD, the slg is by no means unaffordable. It is priced to sell to the agglets that so far have bought mostly ions. Overall Looks- The gun itself actually has a great look to it. its stylish, light (super dooper light) and tight. perfect for speedball. Performance-- The gun gets GREAT gas efficiancy. i thought the 1500 shots per 68/45 was a lie, but it isnt. i get about 2200 shots off of my 91/45. The gun is also very fast. stock, mine was shooting about 26 BPS. perfect for aggsters. Profile- I would like to re-iterate the lightness of the gun. it really feels like nothing. it feels solid and sturdy, dont get me wrong, but its sooo light. fully loaded, (tank and hopper) it feels like my cocker by itself. its also very tight. with the tank on it, (mine is a stubby) its still right in the pocket of my sholder and not sticking a mile out ahead of me. Stock parts- The stock parts really are great. theres no reason to replace any of the parts. The board is fast and fully-functioned. it has all the modes and adjustments as the more expencive ones. the reg is also very very good. its the same Hyper 3 as the PM8 has, just different rubber wrap. My one complaint was the frame. i dont like to polymer frame and trigger. i would much rather a metal or alloy frame of some sort. Maintenance- There is, quite literally, not maintenance involved in the slg. there are only 2 moving parts in the gun. the bolt and the reg parts. there are also about 6 o-rings that may need replacing. when the gun has a problem, it WILL be an oring. replace it, and its good to go. also there is a "force button" that clears the bolt incase of a jam or doublefeed. it comes in handy to unjam the bolt, and clears the chamber worry free. its nice to go to the feild, knowing any problems can be fixed by an o-ring change. afterall, i go to the feild to play paintball, not to work on guns. the only maintenance it needs on a game-to-game basis is lube and oil. Competitors-The slg is designed to compete with the ion, PMR, invert mini, and G3. i find that its better than all but the G3. after trying each gun, it all comes down to personal preference. i hate the ion and the mini, and the slg beats both hnds down. the G3 however, is better functioned and designed than the SLG. some however may find that the mini or ion is "better than the slg" OVERALL IMPRESSIONS- I love my slg. it is easy to maintain, fast, reliable, well built, and comes with proto's waranty and support. great gun for the price, and i find that mine (despite being labeled by the agglets as "lowend") can run with all the big boys. i play against egos and DM/PMs at my local feild all the time and often, if not always, im just as capable. its a perfect gun for beginner or pro. |

Mine had every possible problem imaginable, didnīt get a full hopper without a problem out of it ever. Now I havenīt seen it in a while cause itīs in UK to be repaired, and I hope the new one will be better. When I had it, it was more accurate than my empire2 or dm6 (with same barrel), just the bolt sticked every 10 balls, the ones that didnīt chop.
