| JT Proflex So, recently i was forced to retire my old trusty JT spectra mask. It was time for an upgrade. I had heard alot about the JT proflex being an amazing mask and all, and after giving it a try, heres what i found: First impressions- It defiantly looks cool. The flex bottoms are nice and stylish and the frames/lens half is quite cool looking as well. I myself really like the looks of it. The foam is also very very soft and comfy, yet firm and not fragile feeling. Construction- The mask feels as though it is made well. The plastic feels nice and sturdy and the rubber is nice and thick. Feels like it should last a while for sure. The soft ears are my one complaint in this area. They feel as though they dont offer adequate protection for the ears. Price- At around 65USD, the Proflex may be a little cost-prohibitive. Compared to other masks on the market these days, the proflex is not exactly over priced. Also, the way i figure it is, the mask is the most important piece of gear you can have. Spend the money to get one you are comfortable with and will suit the style of paintball you play. Comfort- The proflex is very very comfy. The foam is super soft and supple, and the shape feels as though it should be able to accommodate most any facial shape. Protection- I have played many times in mine, and have never felt as if i was under-protected. The mask covers all parts of the face well, and does not leave any spots that are under covered or exposed. As i said earlier though, hard ears would be a plus. OVERALL THOUGHTS- The proflex is a great mask. for the price, it really is a great system. i cannot say it will work for everyone, as everyone will have a differing preference and facial construction, and a mask should never be bought before it is tried on, and possibly played in, but it is win for me! -sable |

| Luddite | I agree. My favorite mask system. Another huge benefit is it's modularity. I've worn out peices and decided I like other peices throughout the time I've owned mine and maybe only one peice or two are original. Pick up a set of hard ears if the soft ones really bother you, that's how I have mine. Flex bottoms and an old style curved visor. |

| Dumme | I tried real hard to like other goggle systems, but always came back to my Proflex. I've had it since 2003, and the foam is only just starting to degrade. It probably would have lasted longer had I not left my mask outside in the sun for a few days. The foam thing is no biggie because, as wanderlustre said, I can just pick up a set of uppers somewhere and I'll have a new mask. As for the protection thing, I kind of agree with you. While the soft ears are comfortable and light, they don't always do the best job protecting the side of your head. I got shot in the ear once and it was probably the worst hit I ever took. Also, you have to be careful that when you don your mask before entering the field, the ears aren't bent backwards or reversed. They're soft and you don't always notice. Luckily I always catch myself before the whistle blows. Best mask on the market people. Buy one! |

| Been years since I've bought new lenses for my Spectras, got about 4 pairs of the "green olive" ones. Do they still make lenses for the Spectra series, I think they are technically the "Spectra 260"??

I agree about the soft ears. I recently took a shot that got my earlobe. I'll take a neck shot anyday over the ear. I still like them overall, but I'm going to give the Vents a try.

| MCB Member | I too try to like other goglgle systems that have better lenses, but despite the proflex having probably the worste lense in the "high end" mask market, it is by far the most comfortable. Definitely it protects less than any other mask too, the soft lower basically leaves your lower face completely open to damage, but it is well worth it. For protection and comfort the spectra is the best choice. Best mask yet though, it is the only one I can breathe in. Just get a flex 7 / Proflex with hard ears if you have issue with the lack of ear protection.

| Got my daughter a set of Flex 8s for her first mask. She loves it. I prefer my old VForce Morphs to the JT's, but again, preference....

| MCB Member | Morph lense is heavenly, thats for sure. The morph was nice but was a bit heavy for me, especially with the weight sort of far off your face. I think a shield might be nice..even though it is stiff it will probably be a bit lighter.
