I am working on a PT Extreme that dumps the 12 gram when it is pierced. I have been over this thing and I cannot figure it out. This is the first time I have ever tinkered with one. Is there a common issue with these?

where is it leaking? 1- The cap under the 12g chamber? 2- Out the 12g loading port? 3- Out the barrel? 4- Don't know, somewhere in the valve area 1 - out the small bottomline cap ... common issue due to the round surface and lackluster o-ring seal. Add you favourite sealant of add a standard 1/8"-npt plug (stock plug is the same). 2 - usually due to a crumbled 12g seal. if you pull the valve assembly and disassemble it, a cocker cocking rod bumper will work to replace it (Mag reg seat may also work - haven't tried that one yet) 3 - Usually due to a fubar'd or poorly sealing cup seal. Since they are a proprietary design and no longer made ... replace them with a spyder pin and bullit style cup seal. You will need to adjust the pin length to match the stock unit or your timing will be off. I would also suggest shaving and porting the cup seal to increase flow. 4 - Generally all thing lead to the valve ... as it is an assembly housing the valve body, cup seal and 12g seal. check and replace the orings in it, it will come apart completely with little effort. They come in both Stainless and Brass varieties.

Perfect. I will hopefully get to check it tonight. That will be very useful info. It actually dumps into the gun I believe, back towards the bolt and trigger frame.

In that case if the cupseal looks ok, then it's probably the valve spring that goes on the nose of the cupseal or scratches where the rear of the cupseal seats on the valve. Here's a thread on spring tuning zeuses, I use the same method for the PTXs: zeus type spring tuning One basic thing I wanted to throw out there just in case, is that the pistol must be cocked to pierce a 12gram. If the bolt is forward it will gas out as you describe! Rob

when I got my hands on it the first time, I tried it uncocked and cocked just to see. It still dumped both ways. Looks like this will be a weekend project. Ill keep you posted.

WOOT! Well, I found an oring jammed down in the valve itself, the cup seal was mangled, and I replaced the internal oring the keeps the large brass pierce pin barrel in place in the entire housing. I replaced the cup seal with a spyder one, and bam! No leaks. I was working on this for a buddy. When I called him, he said thanks and you can keep it. SWEET! I've always wanted a PT Extreme! Thanks for all the help guys, you just earned me a new toy!
