Timmy's? I'm an Electro Newb...

If this should be in another section, Mods please move it.

I'm really interested in learning more about Timmy's or the Intimidator.

The newer styles, not the classic 3ft tall ones.

If you could share your own Pros/Cons, I'd appreciate it.

Also, what is the difference between the GZ, Alias, A-bomb, Ripper, Empire 1/2?

Thanks in advance.

Jay

Internally?

Well...

Gen1 - Classic Intimidator, Ripper 1 - Strange frame Duel Regs up front , shorter body with a block of aluminum covering the ram tub that sticks out

Gen2 - GZ ( smaller non clamshell frame ) , 2k2, texas storm , ECX , ironman , Shocktech , Z , Dragon , species ( funky hidden bolt pin set up) , Lasoya , Empire 1 and Dragon 2.5 (technically both have an 05 frame BUT they both have Gen2 style internals)

Gen 3 - Alias , Ripper 2 , Ripper 2.5 (rare) , Flame (rare only 3) , Naughty Dogs , Hellwood (rare only 10) , Lasoya 2 , Russian Legion , Dark , Abomb and the Rage one that has yet to come out.. These all have the pushed foward frame also refered to as an "05" frame, they also have a shorter bolt this also gets you a shorter body

Gen 4 - Empire 2 , Imfamous , and Ripper 3 , these are the shortest of the timmys, they also have the ballenced valve.. the major draw back of this gun is it has to run at a higher valve pressure due to decreased internal volume thusly with super brittle paint it will give you some issues..

Really the differences have been listed if you had to choose go with a Gen 3 they tend to be lighter than the gen 2's but.. you can always find a cheap gen 2 and put an 05 frame on it and make it nicer

Ala this gun which is mine... insult classic timmys will you!!

Thanks, that was just what I was needing. So what kind of Timmy do you have? Looks like the 05 frame, but other than that I'm clueless. What kind of maintenance do Timmy's require? Efficiency? What does a decent Gen 2 Timmy goes for? An 05 frame? A decent Gen 3 Timmy?

That's a classic timmy with the 05 frame. Personally, I'd rather not put one of those on a Gen 2 without the alias wiring setup because it's just too much to comforably put into that frame. It also gets expensive considering what Gen 3's go for. Timmys are pretty efficient, better than a matrix but not quite a viking sort of deal. I've seen GZ's sell for $200, and the other Gen 2's seem to hover around $250 up to $350 depending on model/condition. I sold an Alias for $360 with an Ion regulator in place of the stock reg. I had originally picked it up for $400 a couple months ago. Paintballgateway.com has a few Alias style timmies for $500, I think they are getting cleaned out. The field I work at has a Ripper 2.5 for $490 brand new. At this point the best value is the Gen 3 until Gen 2 prices get lower IMO.

I think I'm going to have to find somebody at the field to let me abuse their Timmy for a game.

thats MY classic timmy!

im fine with it tho ... fun gun ... why'd you take the dualies off! thats half the reason i bought that gun!

the gen1 timmies are all exact spyder bodies, thats why that little chrome block is on the back of the body.

Hobbes.. you under estimate me

CP's old classic.. as of right now is all Alias at heart the only "classic" part on it is the body.. I took the ram tube out because it developed a leak I couldnt get rid of , and it now has an alias front block... Inside the brain is all alias with a tadao m6 board its my sleeper timmy

CP the dulies and old frame are going to good use on another project gun when ever I get the chance. Its old board and harness are actually in my LCD angel right now

Price wise.. Hell Ive bought a 2k2 timmy for 200 bucks new , and my buddy bought an alias for 100 bucks but it need ALOT of love to get going again..

Perfomance.. there pretty fase reliable as all hell lube the ram once and while (dow 33) , make sure the dentents dont wear out and go shoot people.. thats it..Efficiency.. My 2k2 gets 1800 on a 68/45 The classic gets around 1700 but I can get it better it has ALOT more air volume than the 2k2 its just a little under tuned right now..

EDIT!

Hobbes! :Ripper 2.5 for $490 brand new: What color?????? I want that body style??

Oh and what Timmys do I own?? Currently A cobalt to red 2k2 , That classic and a orginal GZ serial # 69

BigOldSchool - It's glossy blue. I don't know if they all came with it, but this one has the bob long roller trigger.
