Scar on left index finger...?

Hey MCB, newbie here.
I've been playing about six years, but I know there are people who've been playing since before I was around. So yeah, I know how young I really am.

I enjoy learning the history behind this sport because there's just so much stuff behind it. So I'm browsing through Tyger's old videos today and at the very he say, "Check their finger for a scar. If they don't have a scar on their left index finger, they're not really as old school as they think they are."

The only thing I can possibly think of is getting a finger pinched in a pump stroke, or maybe a 'cocker ram. But of course I'm totally off aren't I?

What's he talking about?

And to anyone who hasn't seen his video, here is it:

On Nelspot 007s they were bolt action on the left side and not an easy one. Pump handles came later

Exactly. And before PGP's, there were PG's, where you had to pull the bolt back with your fingers. Not easy stuff.
