I just got a pair of the new Empire SS Contact pants in Digi Camo. They are Sweet. Here's a review I wrote on them.

I second that. They're also cheep and easy to take care of.

Maybe I'm showing my age here, but I don't think I've ever paid $80 for any pair of any pants. Ever. For $80, you could get 3, possibly 4, pairs of BDU pants in different colors/patterns and be ready for different environments. I guess if you're playing mostly speedball, some of the features of those high-dollar duds (extra padding in those...uh, "sensitive" areas, for example) could come in handy, but if you're a woodsballer, BDUs are the way to go.

I got my pair of evil pants two years ago and they are still in excellent shape. In the time I have had these pants I have watched my friends shred their Empire and JT pants. They now wear evil pants. If you can find some 05's or 06's on sale, you are getting a steal.

I used to wear BDUs, but I also had to wear knee pads, which could be hot and uncomfortable at times. Then, I just went on the Nation and found some of the popular JT Teams in my size for relatively cheap. I like them a heckuva lot better because they have built-in padding for my knees, a pocket for my folding swab, and the protect my legs from paintball-welts better.

I hear you on that. Some woman's jeans are equivalent- why I go to the outlets and get Eddie Baur or whatever.

I figure for paintball stuff, I'm just going to trash them anyway.

As for getting too hot or whatnot, I'm usually good pants-wise. Just wear a pair of shorts or something under that you can strip off with in the dead zone or hike them up really high. They have adjustable cuffs after all.

I got some Raven pants on actionvillage.com for $15. just watch the clearance section for your size. They've held up pretty well - and I'm pretty rough on clothes. I figure that for the price I can trash them and just replace them.
