We have setup 2 plywood bunkers Ive turned both our guns down to about 150 he shoots like mad at me and I generally try not to shoot him too much. Generally hes toating my ego with a peanut and a Rotor the I4 Fits him perfectly lol. I think all the kids in his preschool class are jealous hes the only 4 year old rocking an ego. As he gets older ill build on his fundamentals and teach him the game as of right now its basically taken the place of running around the house with nerf guns :P |

My daughter is 3 now and she loves coming out to watch. She cheers me on at the start of the game and then goes back to the car and plays with some of the other kids when I dissappear in to the woods. She usually takes my wife and walks back to the field entrance and points and laughs at the guys on the "bad" team as they walk off and says "Ha Ha Daddy got you!" So awesome. She fills my hopper after games and when I use 10 round tubes she loves them because they are small and "her" sized. (Great way to teach counting by the way! )She will definitely be out in 7 years playing. I can see it now. |

Everyone obviously has their opinion. So imo they should start playing when they can pick up the marker, shoulder it, pull the trigger and hit a target. Also understand what rules and follow them. Know what a barrel sock is and how to use it and where. Keep their mask on when they are in all desginated playing areas. And a general knowledge of the purpose of the sport is nice, we dont need anymore idiots "no offense" shooting road signs, animals, neighbors dogs or cats ect ect. Most of all teach fun and respect for the sport.

it also depends on the local field too. since some have age limits. so if you where to take to local field better check age limit. other then that i say 11 to 12 is good age. but if kids good in sports and well built body i say 10.

Some renters have no idea how dangerous it is to take their masks off. I think it's more the adults at my field who take theirs off than the kids. I told a guy to put his on, and he just pointed his gun at me and went "Shut the **** up!" and I tried to explain to him how he could lose the eye and he just about shot me. I try to keep a lookout for other players but I really don't want to waste my time trying to help someone who's just going to swear and point their gun at you. Also, in regards to the drag out and play aspect i think the player just needs a good chest protector or vest and they should be fine. let them learn instead of forcing it onto them! i thought i was really good the first time I played but then I got shot and went down to level zero. Even now I still sometimes get afraid when i'm doing the snake around a car and paintballs are flying around me.Part of it is those damn renters! (Sorry! ), they just don't know when to stop shooting. :/

My first game was when my friend took me and a bunch 2 other of his friends paintballing , i was about 13-14 in grade 7 and i was scared ****less, i remember getting bunkered constantly, i played a couple other times later on in the years then when i got older i met a guy in one of my classes, were best buds now and we basicly go paintballing when i get the time and attended the odd event and walked out with two $130 masks :P I have seen a few younger players at the outdoor field i play at and the owner gets always gets the new players/rental players in to a group before the first game and explains the rules and he does take strict action with the masks, and barrel plugs, to be honest ive been caught once or twice by taking my mask off to early coming up to the exit I can remember seeing a 12 or 13 yr old with a mid-range speed ball gun last year at an event, and im not to sure what the age limit at my field is probably be no younger than 10 maybe I read some of the posts on this topic and inspired me for this year to try and stay with the rental players and help them, or give them pointers from my experience

I've always thought 10 was the minimum (for playing at an established field), and then you have to go by the individual after that. I recently found a local field that was friendly to kids. They allow 10+ on the field with and adult, require chest protectors and gloves for the young ones, don't allow swearing and expect the older players to exert some trigger control. Of course they really stress the safety rules, and everyone looks out for the kids. My 11 year old and his 12 year old buddy have enjoyed their experiences at this field. There seems to always be at least 6 kids in the 10-12 age range playing, with no problems. I agree with what someone said above...if you can get them going at this age and teach them to play within the safety rules and play with sportsmanship, they should be better off as they get older. |
