A5 VS. X7 Pippmann

I've narrowed it down to these two markers, now im debating about which one of these to buy. A list of pro's and con's would be excellent.

Other than the differences in bodies, I believe that the basic internal components of the A5 and the X7 are similar. I guess the difference would be which design is more to your liking. However, it might be worth it to look at a Phenom instead of the A5 or X7. I've noticed that a lot of the stores around me are starting to phase out A5 and X7 parts, and are instead stocking Phenom parts. This might save you a bit of time in searching for upgrades and cosmetic parts.

I don't think that's quite true. They look to function very differently, the X7 much like an E-Mag with both E and mech modes with the flip of a switch

Thats the X7 Phenom though. The original X7 is pretty much an A5 in a new suit.

Is it? I guess that shows you how much I know about modern Tippys. Why would you reuse a model name for a completely overhauled system? That seems pretty stupid. Call it the Z9 Phenom or something like that.

Yeap the name is definatley confusing. I have had explain that yes there is a big difference between the X7 classic and the X7 Phenom.

Back to the question at hand. If what your comparing is the Phenom to the A5, hands down the Phenom wins out. Better internals, more efficent, no external airlines, small (shorter over all length no tombstone). Otherwise the A5 will chug along like any Tippmann.

As I recall they did it simply for marketting because they stopped making the X7 pretty soon after the release of the Phenom. Exactly why they went to all the trouble and cost of releasing the original X7 for a short time is beyond me.

The Tippmann A5 and the Tippmann X7 have exactly the same internals as each other. So no Pros or cons there as far as performance goes. IT is all about cosmetic changes and addons.

as opposed to the A5/X7 vs Phenom (mech vs elec IMO putting an e-grip on a marker does not make it elec)

Phenom has a FlexValve vs A5/X7 doesn’t
can get more shots in per CO2 cartridge than the A5/X7
creates less recoil than the A5/X7
requires less "maintenance" than the A5/X7
is lighter and 3 inches shorter than the X7

$$$COST if this matters is a huge factor IMO
A5/X7 have a lot more accessories than the X7 Phenom (both cosmetic and internal) and bothe the platform itself and the accessories and addons are "cheaper"
Highly doubtful they will become "obsolete" look at the 98* while not as widely "serviced" by outside companies as far as accessories/addons as when "new" it is still one of the most used all around platforms

The Phenom is a fantastic gun, although I can't comment on long term durability. The E/Mech selector is a great feature. I'm not a fan of all the rails and I found it kind of hard to aim with a stock on there, but overall it was a good experience.

It's the X7 Phenom because it accepts the X7 accessories (aka milsim bling) line...
