I think the last time I played ball was about 4 years ago at my 16th birthday party. After that, everyone got jobs and started thinking about college I suppose. I was fairly into it at the time, playing with a pump cocker, proflex, all the shnazzy gear, but I decided I missed it and I wanted to come back. I simplified my rig, my air tank being out of hydro and me wanting to avoid all of the fuss of regulators and what not. I picked up a Kingman Hammer here on the boards, remembering how much I liked not spending a lot on paint, threw a J&J ceramic on there, remembering it to be a good low cost barrel from when I played, and have a Vforce Profiler on the way here, preferring the looks and hard surfaces of the mask compared to a flex (I don't want a bounce bad enough I guess) I've scheduled a day on this coming Saturday with a bunch of guys from my ROTC class at college as a way to build teamwork and generally have a blast. I guess what I'm asking is what should I expect? I've already figured my snapshot won't be what it used to, especially lefty, but any advice from other guys who have come back after a lengthy break? Will my equipment choice allow me to keep up, assuming I keep at it and start attending the Friday pump nights at the local field. |

Yeah, I don't see why not. I got back into the sport this year with a phantom and all I did the first few months I played was rock the snake while playing on an airball field with some guys from my college team. You're a little awkward at first but you'll fall back into it.

Your one possible equipment issue will be rollouts. Paint is often tiny these days and may likely roll right out of that J&J. Keep an eye on that, and if its an issue don't pump till your ready or tilt the gun back when your not shooting. You'll still have a leg up on the noobs, so don't worry too much The important part is the fun, so try to have some

Are they really sizing paint that small now? I remember playing with a .693 before and being fine. Rollouts still happened, but it shot straight. Also, I started hearing about people having problems with Profilers fogging? They were like THE mask to have when I was playing.

My Profilers fogged once. But that was because it was 40 degrees out and I was breathing really heavily from running. But I haven't had any other issues with it.

Its like riding a bike, slightly awkward the first game or two but then you'll fall back into where you were when you left it! Similar story happened to me, I stopped playing when i went to college then came back to it a year ago after three years away.
