New to spaceguns $300-$500

I've been playing for a while but all Tippmann's (SL-68II, 98, x7, Phenom) I think I want to try out the dark side and get a used Electro.

I was looking at an Etek3 or an Ego, but wanted to see if anyone has any better suggestions or am I looking at the right area?

Multiple threads on this topic in the Ask the Experts section, here is just one of them and fits your criteria almost spot on
Looking for a reliable $300-600 end marker.

If you are just looking for a light, comfortable gun, maybe a nice automag?

If you want an electro, I'd suggest the AXE in that price range. It just feels great in the hands. I do prefer it to the Etek's I've shot/used. I'd honestly shoot it over most ego's.

actually I did, I saw that but he ended up getting his gun fixed and before that he kinda set in on an ego without much discussion on any other guns.

I'm already looking at an ego or etek and wanted to actually discuss other options instead of just sticking with what I looked at first since I haven't actually bought anything.

The Axe is Empire's 2nd Gen platform. The Mini was their 1st. Thus the similarities.

In my opinion, the Mini was a great platform that kind of got crapped on because of the body. The mini shoots great, it is just too short for some people, has a crappy trigger, and that stupid ASA.

The Axe basically fixed all that, turning it into a fantastic gun. So yes, it has a ton of mini inside, but it's been put into a big boy gun with good parts.

Axe is
- More roomier (foregrip / trigger guard)
- Has a better ASA
- I believe its one-button press to remove the bolt
- Trigger I think is also an improvement

I know I am missing a couple others too.....
