Looking for a simple little semi to play around with?

Hey guys,

I love my pump guns, but sometimes i think it would be fun to go out with a beater little semi and go have fun. I tried automags but the one I had chopped paint like a mother, and I could never get it to shoot right. To be honest, if I could find a mag in "this" esque type configuration (maybe braided line) it would be awesome.

So here me out, and I'd like some opinions.

Autocockers are out. I love'em they're cool, but definitely not a "beater" gun.
electro anything is out.
Single trigger only! I hate double triggers.

This is my current line of thought.

I nice little spyder compact with a palmer reg, and HPA, and a dye ultralight i have sitting around.

Shouldn't run me too much, has a single trigger, should be fairly consistent with palmer reg, and pretty damn reliable.

Thoughts?

the automags were notorious for chopping paint, untill the bolt upgrade was released specifically to prevent that - you might want to give that a try - look for a level 10 bolt mag.

Agreed. You have to update your mag knowledge! Theres no reason for a mag to be choppin' paint since the LvlX bolt came out several years ago.

With a LvlX bolt, a mag is totally the setup your looking for. Don't settle for a Spyder!

Is this HPA only? ICD alley/thunder cats are very light and compact on 9oz CO2 back bottles. Only their age causes trouble, otherwise they are shaped a bit like a phantom and relatively small. For a blowback, cats are pretty consistent due to their velocity/recock system.

Mags don't always chop, even on level 7 bolts. They might be worth sorting out for you if you're HPA only.

I guess I stick with mags as a fat (high paint volume) mech-semi usually because of the shot consistency. Seat leaks are always around the corner and reg maintenance is about the same as any marker with an HPR. With a mag they are all pretty easy to get to.

Hm, I guess those two fill all my needs for mech-semis. Regular stacked tube blowbacks are good when you make them fit you, but they always seem to fall behind for the same amount of work and money.

Agreed.

My Procarb is my goto semi when I just don't feel like being bothered to pump Reliable as all getout, and a great shooter. It always comes with me.

I have never had an AutoMag chop paint with a single trigger and level 7 bolt. NEVER.

I recommend a Classic Valved 'mag with a single trigger - pick the body of your preference. You can even spend more and get a custom spring/stock feed body. (search the forum - someone was making/welding them)

Here are a couple of mags I built - one for a nephew, one for me:

More details: So I am thinking about building a Mag
Automag - Nelson Grip Compatability?

I'd say an automag with a ULE body if you want centerfeed. If you don't want a mag-

Azodin Kaos. Hands down the nicest blow backs I've used. The quality put into these things is just as good as any high end electro I've used. It is basically a Spyder, but with every part so well made that it's a very nice gun. If you want a super nice, single trigger blowback, I'd suggest the Kaos with a nice barrel, reg, ASA, and single trigger frame. Can easily be had for under $180 and it'll shoot very well.

What kind of trigger frame would you put on a Kaos? They seem like awesome guns for the price, although that also depends on what its guts look like.

F1 / F2 Illustrator w/ bottom line rig.. about the same weight and feel as your phantom.
