PPS Blazer Pump conversion question ...

In following the trend of doing more high skill pump type play, I am wanting to get into the fun of pump play.

Phantoms seem to be the rage for the purists of SC play & even open pump class.
Converted cockers are plentyful and damn cheap too !!

* How does the Blazer do as a pumper ?

* I own one, it's accurate as hell, but how will the wear and tear be on the pneumatics when rock pressure is reduced yet the parts are still being cycled ?

P.S.
In reading threads within mcarterbrown's "Pump" forums, seldom have I read anything about Blazer pump conversions ????

Maybe you should try the POG or PPS forum here.

What you do is complete shut off the rock, that way none of the pneumatics are cycled. No different wear/tear. It works like a normal pump.

Well, Thats not entirely true ... The 3 way/Switch is still getting cycled even tho No pressure in valving. Ram too is getting stroked, even tho no pressure in it.

Thats really the issue I am most interested in ??

P.S.
Will post a link to this thread so I don't double up the actual post

I would guess that there is alot less wear than if you had pressure in the vessels. Just remember to oil it and it should be fine.

The most wear you'll see is on the barrel where your pump handle rubs the powder coating off.

I doubt the slower cycling and fewer shots fired will have any ill effects.

If that's the part you're most worried about there is a partial cure, not that I'd recommend it unless you know how to put it back on.If you take the gripframe off and remove the 3-way actuating rod from it (falls out anyway once the frame is off) that will prevent the pneumatics from cycling at all once the rock pressure is turned off.

I own a pump kit on my blazer and out of the box, the pump stroke is much better then a non broken in phantom. It's very light and smooth. However, I still have the problem of the pump rod scraping against the side of my ASA (even though I don't really care, eventually I'll change it anyway.) The scraping and the lack of autotrigger is really the only downfall in my opinion.
