I've shot both. Prefer the Trracer. Phantom has the much better aesthetic due to more aluminum and less plastic, more gloss and less matte. Phantom is way more modular than the old Trracer, much easier to convert to stock or get a VSC.

Both shoot the same. Breech drop is a bit more prone to rollout as the Trracer doesn't have anything like detents if your paint doesn't fit. I've had days where it's just been rollouts and paint blenders.

You can fix that yourself with a drop of nail polish or a tiny strip of electrical tape over the lip of the barrel, though. Trracer has the smoother pump stroke and after a day of play feels much more sturdy. You also don't spend your time worrying about dinging the anno - it's a working gun, not a showpiece.

AKA Fan
I fixed roll-outs on my Hammer my cutting a slot in the bottom and putting in a Spyder detent (ie. basically the new Trracer method). Works great.

Trracers shoot just as good, if not better than Phantoms. If you can afford a Phantom, just buy a Trracer instead and pimp it out.

The only issue with Trracers is that the replacement parts are hard to come by if you need them.

Interesting thread. It's a question I've had for a while. I own a Maverick and been using it for years. From another trade I have a phantom in the mail and can't wait to compare the 2.
