You chose wisely. Let us know how you like the mask. And the phantom.

Any cocker can be converted to pump, but you should stay away from trilogies, in my opinion.

Yes, playing pump will make the game much, much, more affordable.

Hopefully I will have both the mask and the phantom by Saturday, but I doubt it. I didn't receive a shipping confirmation for the mask, and I ordered that Tuesday morning.

So all I need to do now is order a 3.5oz tank for the Phantom, a right feed breech and maybe a 45grip. Oh, and some paint! haha...

Anyone have any recommendations on paint, specifically shooting it from the Phantom? How gentle is the Phantom when it comes to paint, does it break fragile paint easily? Whats a good brand of paint, and whats a good site that sells paint for decent prices?

You should pick up a set of detent rings for the Phantom. Because it is closed bolt if you have small paint it will roll out. The rings are for sizing and keeping rollouts down. My Phantom seems to like most paint.

looks like it's too late to chime in, but i really like my proto switch, it has a really wide view angle, and you can get the cheap one for $25 with a bit of looking, you'll want to upgrade to a thermal lense but you can find them for $20-25 at most pro-shops (my local shop tends to be a bit on the costly side, and they're selling any of the switch thermals for $23.95) i also find the padding to be very comfortable.

i've noticed that mcb tends as a whole to prefer the sheridan based pumps, while Stock Class Paintball largely prefers the phantom. me, i'm not a huge fan of phantoms. i find they're too light for me. i WAS however sold on the duckslide phantom. but then the pump on it weighs nearly as much as the entire phantom itself.

pumps are great to learn with, you'll get shot to pieces a LOT but it'll force you to learn how to play faster. if you want to go semi, i'd suggest a good tippman or spyder, you can find either for dirt cheap. look around on the forums, look on ebay, come to an event where any of us are and you're bound to find someone who'll sell you an old "loaner" gun they've got for pocket change because you're new, and they don't really need it. that being said, most of us'll let you borrow any number of our (most likely lower end) guns for a couple games to get the feel for them, so you'll have a chance to find what feels right for you.
as far as the 3.5 and such, check out Stock Class and Pump Paintball Headquarters - Wevo Paintball they've got the best price on 3.5oz i've seen and pretty much everything else you'll need for your phantom. are you doing stock class, or open class? ie. hopper or 10-15rd tube? if so, i'd reccomend strongly getting a dozen or so 10rd tubes and the speedcaps unless you want to just constantly replace the lost caps every few games.

This will be your best investment, they're like 6 bucks and make a world of diffrence.

I had ordered a Dye I3 Pro mask, but it looks like I might not be getting it. The place I ordered it from said they had it in stock, but its been over a week and I still have not gotten it. The charge has been removed from my Credit Card and looking over my confirmation email a little bit closer it looks like its on backorder? But according to their website they still have it in stock. Kinda confusing.... I need to call them.

edit: Just called them, looks like they were just out of the color I ordered. So I just picked a new color, and tada its shipping out today.

ROFL - Would have been nice if they could have mentioned that - you should put that mask on the Customer Service people and chase them around with a marker in each of your hands to "re-motivate" them.

Tell me about it... What makes it worse is that they have button that says "check availability" and it shows the stock of the product, and in this case all the color variations. My color variant as well as the others all showed "in stock". So, needless to say I wont order anything from that place again.

Sounds like you're all set to go.

If you end up looking for a nice semi and don't mind tinkering then a mechanical autococker would be a fun second gun and first semi. And since you're starting out with and seem to like the single finger trigger styles then a setup with a slider would be nice to have. You're already learning to shoot minimal paint and make it count so here again a slider framed autococker would be a sweet companion for that Phantom IMHO.

They ARE infectious. I went from wondering why anyone would put together such a kludge of "junk" and call it a paintball gun to owning 5 of them and not planning on giving up any of them in the near future. They've got a unique sound and feel.

ANother nice semi option that won't break the bank account is one of the old Automag Classic setups. I got one and again it's got a lot of character with its unique sound and feel. I went for the plain right feed since I find the powerfeeds are just too blocky to sight past. The nice bonus is that they can be had for under $100 for clean examples.
