The most you want to spend on a tippmann is 25 dollars.

That 25 dollars will get you a CP one piece barrel in your preferred bore size.

Anything else is just wasting your money. I'm speaking from experience here.

It might not be a well known fact on here, but I have a soft spot for anything Tippmann. Especially the 98 platform as there is a lot you can do to it. In my earlier post I was playing devil's advocate. I do that from time to time.

The 98 is great for getting new players into the sport and it is great as a back up marker. It is also a great marker to tinker with. Sure anyone can install the drop in mods to make it look cool. The real heart of owning a 98 is the fact you can make it your own. There are so many different mods that cost little to nothing to do. If you have time and patience you can do some truly amazing things to a 98. The sad thing is many people just dismiss it as a "noob's" gun or as a money pit. Sure they can become money pits if you let them by purchasing every mod that supposedly makes it better. On the same token if you know exactly what you want it to do and buy only the mod(s) you need for the project then they don't become money pits and you have something that is uniquely yours.
