nothing to worry about i bring my a5 with me to the states all the time from canada.

paintball markers are not considered firearms in the US, nor in Canada, nor in most places. Only places like switzerland and maybe australia consider them weapons.

so to answer your question no it is not a weapon, therefore not an illegal weapon import. paintball guns are essentially considered toys and are not regulated in the US, not even considered an air powered rifle. Only thing to worry about is if your bringing your tank you must take the reg/Co2 valve off before its allowed on a plane.(make sure its empty first)

have fun !

If it is considered illegal weapons import in Switzerland, are you going to have a problem when you go back? (That is assuming you are returning to Switzerland).
Well I had to get a license allowing me to import a marker into Switzerland. Now that I have it, im fine concerning swiss customs.

But anyways, thanks for all the info guys. =) .. I will call my airline (condor) and contact TSA (email? or can I call them) to prevent any trouble with customs / TSA; also remove shroud, mag, stock.

But yeah it is kind of a special A5, I spent sank a lot of time and money into it to make it perfect =) .. the plan was to bring it over this summer and play lots of paintball with us friends.

You shouldn't have any problems bringing it into the USA. As has been previously mentioned the tank must have the valve removed so that the inside of the tank can be inspected if need be.

When leaving the USA you will have to do the same thing. Your A5 must be placed in your checked baggage along with the tank.

Paintball markers are not firearms thus are not required to be declared. This is a federal regulation covered under the CFR, I don't know the exact one off the top of my head but I can look it up Sunday if anybody really wants to know. Declaring isn't an airline by airline thing. There are strict regulations about what constitutes a firearm and what individual parts need to be declared.

Just buy a used one and sell it when you're leaving.
Even if you lose 40 bucks on the transaction, you'll have saved the hassle of shipping and such.

I'd pull off the tacticool stuff and leave it at home, then just check it.

Do you need a fake magazine and barrel shroud to play?

Even if you bring just the cosmetics, I'm sure you'd be okay, they're just empty husks, after all.
