You managed to tickle my undergrad philosophy funny bone with that one lol

Realsim sounds cool n' all... But my gametype of 'War Ball' sounds like a lot more fun.

Basically if you get shot in any limb you can no longer use it, head shots and you're out, 3 torso shots and you're out, mercy kills result in human shields, gun shots mean running around unarmed. Still a work in progress, and should only be played with rec ball buddies. Really only designed for the crazy effin masochists out there...

Oh, and its not a very serious way to play fyi.

Yeah but the problem with hits being decided up by body part is this to me. We used to play an outlaw game on an abandoned horse farm every weekend. And we had a rule where it was gun hits don't count and 1 for head shots and 2 anywhere else. Ok well I rounded a corner one time and snap shot a guy in the morning kneck with one shot. Which he proceeded to light me up. So I told him he was out before the shots. And he was like no you only shot me once in the kneck. I was like dude common that's a head shot. He said no it wasn't it wasn't technically the head so it's not a head shot. Needless to say I was mad but whatever

Paintball and realism are two words that do not fit together very well on many many levels. Paintball no matter how it is played is just a game.

Here, we have a fine example of Realism, circa the nineteenth century:

Note how the artist paints in tones found in the physical world and the subject matter is of a commonplace, uncolored (in terms of exaggeration or emphasis) variety.

This is an abstract Modernism piece for a contrast (Krasner, mid-twentieth). Most would use Pollack as the exemplary purveyor of this style but, frankly, I think he's a no-talent hack and his wife executes the principals he proposed far better than he ever did:

And, simply because it's one of my favorites, here's a Futurist painting. This style was one of the progenitors of the far more popular abstract Modernism and Cubism. The artists generally sought to capture movement in a stilled, two-dimensional format:

Anyhow, hope that helped!

EDIT: Wait, "Realsim" ? As in, "real simulation" ? How would that even work? And/or isn't any type of paintball a "real sim" for actual combat encounters?
This just made my day, thank you matteekay! In all honesty i have no quarrel with this type of play but i would rather be able to play all day and not have a 8 hour day of fun ended by friendly fire (something that happens a bunch in scenarios it seems). If you and your buddies love it though keep at it and enjoy it. Just don't let it end up like the "cspo" elitists that nearly forced me out of paintball before i even got my feet wet. "your gun is red, you can't play with us kid"

OP, you should look up the Bugstompers based out of Calgary. They are as close to RealSim as you can get. They are pretty serious when it comes to their team, hold practises/drills etc...they usually just play against themselves now and the AMG.

They do however have around 200 members or so, and enjoy what they do, I would suggest contacting them.

Thanks to all who have contributed so far; your input is invaluable to my project.

I have been making great progress in the creation of a new tournament-league/reality-show/paintball-subgroup.

We'll call it REALSIM until a better name is found.

Have a look at the current format and let me know your opinions.

7 vs 7 | 20 minutes | elimination (you or your marker are hit with a paintball break and you're out)

Woodsball field, (uneven terrain), flip a coin or rock paper scissor for sides.

Any paintball marker allowed (" play with whatever equipment as long as you're shooting under 280ft/s)

One unopened box of high quality paint for each game. 2 Bags for each team; divided any way you like. (Part of the fun is to strategically divided the paint amongst the team members.)

Game is won by scoring more points then the other team. One point for each successful elimination and one point for controlling the centre objective.

COSTS: $15 per game per player.

Breakdown: $5 for paint, $2.5 service fee, $7.5 prize money.

The winning team gets back $105 as their prize money. ($15 each; effectively having played for free)

In the event of a tie everyone gets back $7.5.
The whole event can be done without prize money; bringing the cost down to $7.5 per game per player.

Any team that has won twice on a day will have cameras mounted on their heads and be chased by a glide-cam for the duration of their third game.

There will be online ranking and reputation tracking.

the winning team of the event at the end of the day gets to play a game of survival among themselves (with cameras) and fight over the sponsor-prize. (no glide came here; that would be unfair. Stationary and head mounted cameras only)

Unless you have deep pockets, you will be losing money on this venture it seems, and not sure how this would all work out for you. Best of luck though!
