no. "sniper" is the term for converted autocockers, they were originally sold as the sniper/sniperII back in the early 90's

phantoms are phantoms or nelsons.

So CCM, Palmer, and a variety of converted autocockers are usually considered the great open class guns. While Phantoms and other nelsons tend to be better stock class guns?

yup. but not to say you cant do the opposite, they just have worked into this system

What is a pump mag, and what is the advantage of that setup? Does anyone make new pump mags?

pump mag is a broken mag with a arm to reset the bolt, you put a wave spring in between the bolt and piston so it cant cock back all the way, the linkage just pushes the bolt enough to catch the sear

no, lucky to even find a pump kit for a mag

all the red stuff

damn beat to it

Please stop calling it a "broken mag". It's "function though dysfunction".

...and I believe you can still buy the mag pump kits from rainman229.

This is generally true with a few exception like the Carter Goose which can be both a good open class and a stock class gun or whenever RTR decide to make an open class adapter for the gargoyle.

I can't find any information on the Carter Goose. Can you point me in a direction? I did see the Carter Sniper.

The only thing CCM ruined was my bank account. And I love them for it every time I play, I'd have paid twice the money now that I'v owned one, TF's tech video's are great, the man is a real OG and he will not steer you wrong. Pump Mag's are cool, but there quite heavy if it's a Stainless Steal body.
Honestly though, if your happy with the phantom (I own 3) play with it. I break mine out pretty often and play stock. I love the rain man kit, but the best up you can but for a phantom is paint. Play with it, I used mine for 10 years, and I don't know when it smoothed out, but it did. I retired it this weekend and have a new tree bark anno phantom I'll be showing some love for the next 10. Also there is a post in the CCI section by senghing27 on how to put a ego detent in there for Stock class.

Ive built and rebuilt my share of Snipers and a few years ago I picked up a Sniper 1 - sn 774 ish.. drilled billet aluminum sheridan guts etc.. and while the politics and legal crap have cast a huge shadow over WGP I must say: Bud nailed it. The original Sniper 1 was very well made. There has been a lot of derivative work since then but just like an AK47 and a Colt 1911 the basic design is a thing of beauty.

props to CCM and PPS for the fine mods and tweeks.. but its still just a sniper.... lol which is still just an aluminum pgp.

Designed and built by Daisy and sold as Nelson...
