Where I'm from, a lot of the more experienced players have pumps to use when playing rentals, cause it's just not fun (or fair) to sling 12 bps at people who have a bag to last the day.

Because it makes me a better player, because I learn to conserve paint and because it teaches me to make the first shot count.

My reasons for playing pump, not in order:
1. Don't need as much paint=lower cost
2. A decent pump typically will cost less than a decent semi/electro=lower cost
3. Don't need batteries
4. Less maintenance issues, i dont need to spend much time fixing it...of course i shoot a phantom so my down time so far has been zero
5. Makes me play more methodically, i dont have the fire power to get a hit by volume so aiming/stealth is needed.
6. It's generally a lighter set up...a smaller tank and hopper can be used without hurting your play style or time in the game.
7. Some game's/tourneys require a pump. Outlaws and Lawdogs wouldn't be the same with semi's/electro's

All that being said I still think its fun to use a semi/electro on occasion. Optimally id like to have a gun in every catagory and eventually ill get there.

Yeah but the pumps they use are practically not pumps.

My thing is why play with competitiveness at all? I hate when some people ask me why do i use pump doesnt that put me at a disadvantage? And my reply is even if it did why does it matter? No one gets paid to play paintball so why be competitive. Even the best tournaments prize packages still arnt enough to quit your day job so who cares. At that point your really only competing against yourself which is sometimes the point of pump.

For me is simply more fun and lower cost, Im self sponsor and my son sponsor so I only buy a case and it last for a month spend only on paint and air leaves enough to buy goodies like better clothing, the best mask and a decent barrel and by the way we are the only 2 people playing pump in the fields we visit when we get there for the first time no one pic us for the game We where the last 2 pics because of our pumps but guess what we were the last 2 alive against all electro when the game end a lot of players came and ask how we last so long and got half their guys out only with pumps the answer, stealth, communication, aiming, and one shot at the time one kill and bye-bye.....
