RAP4 Gen 4 or 5

I am looking to purchase a new gun but would like some advise. I like the new RAP4 Gen 4 that coming out 12-12-07 but I want reliability more than looks alone.

I want to have it before 12-14-07, and I would like to know which one is recommended and why you think so?

Also, how good is the customer service if there is problems with the gun?

Hey, sorry I dont really have a personal review on the Rap4 guns themselves, but what I do know is that I have used some of thier aftermarket stuff on my Tippmann A-5 and all of it has broken. I dont know if that helps about thier markers, but I do know thier accessories are about as cheap as you can get. (and if you want all out reliability, not much better than a Tippmann 98C)

I'd go for gen5, simply because most of the parts are interchangeable with the Tippmann A-5.

Was the aftermarket stuff visual or performance?
I do know the reliability of a 98 Custom, it has been my primary since I started in 2001 and since then, I have gotten 4 more .

The Gen 5 has the capability to interchange parts but I do not want that to be the sole reason for choosing a gun. I like the looks of the Gen 4 and in theory, with all the previous Gen's you would think that the bugs of those would be addressed in this new one making a better gun.

How's the customer service on getting replacement parts and issues addressed?

I'll second bigdaddyjob's sentiment.
I have a friend who bought the Gen5 & has had a lot of reliability issues with it.
Given that it's based on the A5 that's saying something.
The clips aren't the most real-world friendly thing either. You have to be careful with them when the are loaded or the dump their contents.
If you are using it with a hopper you may as well be using a prettied-up 98C.

If you are dead set on the mil-sim look there are many body kits for the A5 and smaller hoppers that will reduce the visual impact of the stock hopper (and hold more than 15 balls).
If you are attracted for the clip-fed, hopper-less design take a look at the ATS markers.

I've got a Gen5 for sale... It's a much more reliable gun than the Gen1-4 are. Tippmann A5 internals beat the pants off Spyder knockoffs, and it's much easier to maintaint, operate, repair, etc.

Thumbs up to ATS markers. You could also look into the Tiberius 9 line.

Or Trinity. They're almost identical to the A-5, the only difference being the clamshells-they're fitted to the mag feed instead of the Cyclone. And it takes a little modification to put an E-Grip on it, but that's it.

Trinity is exactly the same as the RAP guns. All are made by Tactmark.

The Trinity MG-4 is the same as the RAP4 T68 Gen5 and they are 100% compatible.

The Trinity is of somewhat shoddier construction, however, and the clamshell bodies have a tendency to crack. They also come stock with unrealistic "clear" magazines, as opposed to the clear-bronze magazines that RAP4 sells which look good while still allowing you to count shots.

Lastly, RAP4 is known for it's customer service, while Trinity is known for its... Well, nothing, really due to the "average" quality of their products and the poor customer support system.
